This is so weird. Lately I’ve started to eat more fat + protein meals, and getting carbs mostly from oatmeal, and I’m hungrier then ever before. In fact, if I have some family dinner where I have no hunger but need to eat out of courtesy, I’ll throw down some oatmeal or dry-bread (finnish stuff, don’t know the english name), basicly anything with fiber.

NateN,
One should consider overall daily kcal balance at some point. That is, even with a great “partitioning window” of a few hours, a dieter wouldn’t want to “erase” the effect of any calorie-draining cardio, eh?

It’s quite subjective but one might consider getting a full 1/3 (to 1/2?) of daily kcal in this mid- and post-workout window. The fraction of daily kcal depends on the “window” you subscribe to: three vs. six hours, keeping in mind that metabolic effects tend to fade over this period.

About the six hour window post-workout.

Let’s say you go through a good full-body workout. You get your Surge in, wait a bit, and then you’ve got your six hours.

I understand you can pretty much stuff yourself silly when bulking (and probably should) as long as your food choices are good. Right?

How about when one is trying to shed some fat? Just how much can one get away with during this six hour window?

Thanks.
Eazymoney: I’ll have to look into that. I, personally, would probably try it, depending on cost! I do have a little concern over getting too much flax oil, as the research on it, however back-and-forth suggests that men might want to stick with 2 Tbsp ground flax seed instead (prostate risks) Ground flax also offers fiber and lignans. I’m not alarmed by the data cautioning men over linoleate, mind you - just erring on the side of caution. And there are other goodies in that Power Butter as well, it seems!

Imbrondir: Interesting - and yes, contrary to related published literature/ biology. Hmm…

Okay all, it’s past my bed time. (Yes, I live a rated G lifestyle). See you next time.

got_beer,
Interesting stuff. I always like to hear about personal experiences like this.

Do you think you’ll continue with it? I still need to get around to using the bags of various bean flours (again, probaly in a mix with whole wheat flour) that I bought at my local health food store.
Yes, I plan on continuing it and hopefully improving the process. My goal is to have a portable, healthy food that is filling, small, cheap and full of protein and fiber. I think some seasoning might even make it taste decent. As for the gas…oh well.

Thanks L-Train! I’ll check the article.

And yes, I get raging hunger at night, and that’s when I end up eating a huge meal…sometimes not as healthy as it should be!
