I’m going to talk to my dad again. He said that I need a referral from the doc for an endo. I should’ve just asked for a referral right then and there. Maybe we can call him one of these days and he can refer me. I’m sure our insurance covers many of those tests. I’m sorry for being a little btch and complaining so much. I was just really pissed off about the doctor visit.

lol… list of ingredients on protein and creatine… YOU NEED TO GET OFF THE TESTOSTERONE TALK… At the same time they need to figure out what is going on with you… Your doctor is an idiot… Where are you located? Tell your dad I am just a regular guy who is having a hard time also. If your dad excepts that kind of care for you his 16 year old son that’s very sad… Your testosterone should be skyrocketing right now… The problem here isnt that the doctor won’t give you testosterone the problem is he won’t tell you or find out why you are having the issues… You need a new doctor… at this point I would ask for a referral to an endocrinologist… beg your dad to order labs…
I specifically told him that I am not interested in trt, at least until I get way more tests done. Can you believe that he actually advised me to go to a therapist? I told him of my symptoms and he said I should go to a therapist and that I might have A.D.D. He basically only wants the same tests done as last time, except he wants me to got off creatine and whey protein to see if my levels change. The ingredients on my protein supplement are pretty much the same as any other one. Cellucor Whey.

I also mentioned that something might be wrong with my thyroid as many of my family members have had hypothyroidism and other complications. I have a very slow metabolism too. I also have very dry skin and hair. I am almost certain this problem has to do more with my thyroid but I am not the expert here.
You have subclinical hypothyroidism. TSH of 4 confirms that. Need to rule out hashi.

You really need the tests I mentioned.

Where are you located?

I am located in Southern California, Anaheim. He mentioned of how my TSH level was in the “higher” range of “normal.” I asked him what is optimal and he said said “your level is optimal, but it may cause fatigue.” I don’t understand him. I know you guys must answer 100’s of these questions per day, so I apologize.

lol don’t be sorry just get labs… i don’t answer many i’m trying to learn myself… we all learn from each other by reading… keep reading… Tunas right rule out hashimotos with auto immune tests and get iodine from amazon…idoral read the thyroid basics sticky… i know you are frustrated but no one can help you if you don’t get labs bud…

I know a few good docs in socal.

I also know you are 16 and probably can’t drive to LA on your own or have a lot of disposable income. I don’t know what your insurance situation is, but here are some docs.

This is the best doc I know when it comes to thyroid, he understands iodine etc. He is 87 years old graduated in 1947 in Mexico, he has his diploma in his office. Tons of experience. He can’t take insurance anymore, but if you explain your financial situation he’ll probably give you a discount. If you can go and explain your symptoms, especially all those relating to thyroid, I don’t know how much he knows about testosterone. I know he will order a full battery of thyroid tests before you can schedule an appointment.

Well basically my dad keeps saying that a second test is “needed” in order to get a referral but I’m not sure how true that is. He says I should stop worrying and says that “nothing is wrong with me.” The doctor wanted me to get off my protein and creatine supplement just like any other misinformed doctor out there so that he could compare both tests.

Well, your doc is a dumbass what can you do? You don’t need a referral for Catz. Its out of network. Depending on your insurance you can pay out of pocket and they will reimburse a part.
If they cover you’ll end up paying about $150.

Even though lab ranges haven’t changed, even the endo society says over 2.5 TSH is a problem.

You have symptoms of thyroid which is more valuable than numbers alone.

It’s very hard to find a good thyroid doc, if you can just go with Catz, you’ll save a lot of hassle.

Very confused guys. Got back my most recent blood results and this is what I got. I was hoping that my TSH would be high so that I could consider hypothyroidism. I don’t know how to explain what’s causing my symptoms. My dad got his levels checked too and I’m not sure if somehow they mixed our results up.

TSH: 2.52 Range: .50 - 4.30 mIU/L

Total Test: 714 ng/dL

SHBG: 27 Range: 20-87 nmol/L

Free testosterone: 121 Range: 4 - 100 pg/mL

Testosterone, Bioavailable : 254 Range 8.0- 210 ng/dL

I wouldn’t ever hope for thyroid problems. That would be silly. Labs look great

Tsh is not telling you you don’t have thyroid problems. Must test ft3 ft4 test for hashimotos test for graves . Read the thyroid basics sticky. A tsh over isn’t exactly optimal. A little on the high side buttons nothing without other labs

Optimal tsh = 1.0

You still need a full thyroid panel.

Your T looks great though!

So is it still possible for low t3 even if tsh isn’t very high? I am hoping to get a full thyroid panel done soon.

Thyroid is not as simple as a few blood tests. A lot of endos have no clue what they r doing!!
