Low hemoglobin on high TRT ??

I did the bloodwork again today.

I do not understand how 300mg test per week results in low hemoglogin, I am also taking .5 arimidex per week.

Thanks

( GP doc refused to test hormones, scheduled that for next week )

bushidobadboy,

Hematocrit was ‘ok’

Last weeks do-over on the bloodwork wont be available until next week. I did however spend a couple thousand on 20 pages of bloodwork back in October 2009 that I will post as a ‘baseline’.

Regarding the gut. Mine was bleeding beyond control July 2008 and I was hospitalized with PAN Ulcerative Colits and dropped all the way down to 130 lbs. I am now 190 lbs and take no medication whatsover. I believe this weight validates my own UC protocol over powerful immunosuppressive drugs etc. I believe TRT blunts the killer T-cells in the immune system and is therefore good for me to continue.

Before I had my gut tuned to perfection I was still doing pretty good back in Oct 2009, here is some of the 20 pages of bloodwork:

Hematocrit 44.8 ( 40.0 - 54.0 )
Hemoglobin 15.4 ( 13.4 - 18.0 )
IRON, Serum 73 ( 45.0 - 200.0 )
Iron Binding Capacity 402 ( 250 - 450 )
% Saturation 18 ( 20 - 50 )

“The 120 mg prednisone is why I sought TRT.”

Prednisone is very catabolic and leads to muscle wasting and bone loss. Is that why? TRT often is needed with long term prednisone treatment, but it is rare for doctors to understand that.

When men loose iron, intestinal blood loss is something that is looked for. There is your answer!

Are you eating a normal diet that includes eggs and red meat?

You might find glutamine useful:

I am impressed that you appear to have self-treated your UC. Very
impressed. Would like to hear more details on this, as would many other
forum members.

Thank you for recognizing the thousands of hours of hard work I put into researching a cure for a nasty disease. So 2006 I missed work for 30 days and got scoped which resulted in UC diagnosis. Asacol and low predinisone, I never noticed much from either. Divorced shortly after. 2008 after submitting motion for Child Family Investigation to get my ex to behave I was doing too much, running to quiz sessions with my daugther, meeting with laywers AND starting a job with the rocket scientists at a digital satellite company mapping the globe that went public last year before I left. Intense work environment. I was a consultant so you louse up and they can just pick up the phone and get a different one.

Food began to pass undigested again after yet another round of antibiotics, 2006 followed 3 back to back rounds of antibiotics. A month passed as I tried everything, cod liver oil SCD diet, nicotine gum, massive L-Glutamine ( smokers get UC when they STOP smoking ). My weight fell to 130 lbs as I bleeing throughout my large intestine 20 times a day. Prednisone at 60mg now. I prepared my home for my parents to assume it and have to sell everything so I purged and organized everything and began transferring title over. I tried hard to say goodbye to my 8 year old daughter without frightening her.

I went to the hospital and entered the emergency room, not knowing if I was ever going to turn the ignition on that truck, go home and father my daugther ever again. I was up all night every night and figured this was the end, I told the doc that something must be disconnected for there to be this much pain. Cat scan revealed large elliptical ulcers throughout my large intestine.

I ended up with a top floor, end unit with windows looking out at the rockies for a week. I fired up the laptop and began researching. I found ‘Cathy’ posted that VSL#3 made her life 95% better. The food they told me to eat made everything worse. I concluded I needed to do what surfer Laird Hamilton does. Eat only food you could get 500 years ago. I ate the hospital out of plain yogurt and salmon. They had no VSL#3 so I had to get out. By this time they had me IV 120mg prednisone. I got out and had my first VSL#3 and I never bled again. Maintained food log and basically ate only plain yogurt and salmon until off pred, about 60 more days.

2009 fly daughter to oregon and drive humvee to parents place. By the return trip and without my VSL#3 900 Billion probiotic I had a sudden bloody flare. I was weak, feverish and freaked out that my contract was ending and my big day was this saturday deploy day, louse that up and have a pretty awful recommendation coming. I ate plain yogurt and salmon for 4 days with morning VSL#3. I thought about prednisone…but realized if my protocol really works then I must use only that to know if it in fact works. I put in straight 8’s went home and slept 8 hours minimum. By saturday the fever was gone and I was eating burgers and gaining strength.

A bit of blood lingered ( still have not gone to hospital or even called the doctor ) at the new contract. I felt that I had beat the flare, and encouraged sought out perfection. How will I ever gain weight and get back into bodybuilding if I do not have a healthy gut ?

I went online for days at a time finding ‘cures’ and changing just one thing at at a time. The resuls were amazing:

Curcumin ( curry concentrate ) Anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, Anti-fungal, Anti-microbal
=> Result Perfect product once daily after NO*Explode in morning.
=> Not sustainable, quality dropped

Psyllium seed POWDER ( NOT husk )
=> 46% increased butyrate levels in the gut, gut-healing
=> Perfect shape density and quailty
=> Ongoing!!!

Sea Buckthorn
=> Hard to say but things got even more perfect but at the same time I switched seed powder
=> I began sourcing it online and now I am as good or better than when I was young.
=> Perfect product every day for several days

Testosterone
=> Suppresses killer T-cells or drives them into the skin either way the immune system backs
=> off the gut

Most UC’rs take immunosuppressive drugs which boosts their chances of undetected cancer. They also constantly fool around with suppositories and enemas and 3 other oral drugs.

I am not touching any of this stuff. I tried it from this end with herbs and the strongest probiotic with clinical trials behind it. VSL#3 and psyllium seed powder are my top 2 must haves.

No sign of blood in 6 months. Quickly put 20 lbs of body weight on, strength thru the roof. Perfectly formed waste - looks like thick twisted rope from the high school gymnasium. I do not even need TP most days - like an animal baby. I believe there is no inflammation.

Steak and eggs were missed in recent weeks. I am billing 60-70 hours per week at the contract and it is going to get worse in March. The consulting company just gave me an increase on my cut, other consultant was so stressed out she drank at lunch and got fired. If I cannot handle the stress I need to move on, stress seems ok. I need to backoff all the stimulants I take to get hopped up on to keep going and going sometimes all night with no sleep.

This schedule makes it difficult for me to cook and eat right. That is why eggs have been dropped the last month.

Need to put spinach back, eggs back and steak back as I have done this last weekend.

The recent blood test was way off and we decided I might just be having a bad day (day after super bowl ) we did it again, I will pickup copies of the results and will be doing hormone blood work for nailing my anti-dosage for estrodial control ( in the ‘sweet spot’ )

Thanks!

[quote]"You are obviously intelligent and sure of your own research abilities. Nice work sir!

Whilst I do appreciate the work you have done, there do seem to be some areas that you could improve on. However I’m not an expert at this yet, so I’m not going to try and point them out specifically. Having said that, one thing leapt out at me. In effect it was “I ate myself to the point where I felt better, then I switched over to burgers.” WHY did you do that, lol.

I’m pretty sure that your job is the root of your issues (not exactly a hard link to make, lol), since it causes you to have patchy nutrition at best. You obviously realise the value of certain foodstuffs yet have no real choice but to sacrifice good eating - at the cost of your health.

So in summary I guess I would say that you are over-reliant on the probiotics and psylium because you cannot commit to steady eating of the stuff your gut agrees with.

Shame you can’t find a better (read: less harming) job, but we all have to make compromises.

In the meantime might I suggest you investigate the following supplements to control stress:

Bacopa monieri
Glycine
Phosphadetylserine

Can’t remeber if you mentioned glutamine for gut health, but I would (and do) take it for that purpose.

All the best to you (and your little girl - sounds like she means the world to you),

The burgers were just a way to show I could start eating wider without consequences and put weight back on. I normally only buy filet mignon and eat it with eggs or whole grain sandwich. I eat a lot of salmon from Whole foods they prepare it really well. The only things I cook at home are omelates and Optimum nutrition natural vanilla whey with honey and wallaby plain yogurt shake with virgin coconut oil tossed in, and steaks. I make spinach salad, use olive oil everywhere and the office has a cafeteria with salads and fish grill. I get into trouble working long hours and having no patience for slow food and wolf down 2 pop tarts of fast food. Lifelong weakness there.

The job is the result of having to pay ex $4000.00 per month year 1, 3k year 2-3, and 2k year 4. This nonsense ends this August. Non-modifiable so if out of work I cannot ask for a payment holiday but she cannot ask for more money or longer terms.

I will look into those other 2, I take Phosphadetylserine, about a gram comes in Primordial Performance Testosterone stack.

Yes my diet can get a lot better, the key to that is to cook a bunch of slow food on sundays and have it at the ready for the entire work week.

Hey thats today I better get cooking!

Thanks for the help Lord knows I surely need it !
