Log: Narcolepsy and TRT - Started TRT Sep 18, 2023

@Andrewgen_Receptors with respect to Narcolepsy, have you tried 7g-9g of Tyrosine as a part of your treatment? I was considering grabbing a few bottles and dosing upon waking to try and improve performance throughout the day.

@Andrewgen_Receptors “Take 7 grams of tyrosine on an empty stomach in the morning, wait 30 minutes, and assess how you feel. Compare it to how you feel normally on most mornings.”

I’m curious how this exercise would affect guys like us. I’ll provide feedback once I know.

Week 16: A lot of improvement in body composition since last post

Hey man, off-topic but I think I’ve been engaging in ADHD Masking since a child.
What Is ADHD Masking? (verywellmind.com)
I got diagnosed as a child, but it didn’t go anywhere really. As I got older and discovered I’m narcoleptic; I just figured I was misdiagnosed ADHD when it was actually something else. I feel like I’ve been doing the masking unconsciously. A lot of those bullet points connect with my behavior.

I guess I’m seeking validation in a way. Could one potentially ‘mask’ for over 20 years? Whether one knows it or not? Do your treatments give you a better sense or new sense of normal?

Hello, I’m French. I was diagnosed with type 2 narcolepsy 10 years ago, and I’ve been suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness since adolescence. I’ve looked for many different causes for this daytime hypersomnolence. I was born with a congenital craniofacial malformation and have undergone around ten surgeries. My mother also took medications during pregnancy, so it could come from many different factors.

I’m not looking to complain — I’m actually a very happy and fulfilled person. I’m a decent lifter, with decent arms and a very good physique that I’m satisfied with overall. In short, I’m happy with how I look. I’ve been doing bodybuilding, weightlifting, and CrossFit for about 18 years now.

I’m the owner of a gym, but I’ve tried several treatments that I eventually stopped: Modafinil, Ritalin — and honestly, I think they’re crap. They didn’t help me stay awake during the day. I need one to two naps per day to function properly. It’s even worse when I’m on vacation or when I don’t train.

I’ve done many different blood tests and a full sleep evaluation with sleep latency tests. I sleep on average 8 to 8.5 hours per night, with good-quality sleep. But despite all the protocols I’ve tried, nothing has really changed.

I go to bed at regular hours, I haven’t drunk alcohol for years, I have a relatively clean diet, and I still need to take multiple naps during the day. Even when I wake up feeling good in the morning, I can feel extremely sleepy all day long. I’m able to fall asleep in a very noisy environment, with loud music playing, and enter deep sleep within just a few minutes. I honestly believe I can get more deep sleep during a short nap than some people get over an entire night.

I still hope to find a solution, and I had considered TRT. However, it doesn’t really interest me because I’m satisfied with my current physique. I was mainly wondering whether it could bring a better level of energy.

I wanted to ask where you are today. Are the results still as good for you? Is your quality of life still as satisfying? Reading about your experience was very instructive, and I thank you very much for it.
