Is that just one or can we have multiple pizzas, say if we read dozens? Bring on the bulk!

Well, in grade school we got one for every month we read 10 books, so I think there’s definitely room for several here…

They still do this, but its way harder to find a pizza hut now.

Since others posted their book collections, I figured I’d post my shelf too. I don’t have nearly as many books as you guys, but I only started buying them at the end of last year. I have fallen in love with leather-bounds as you can see.

Looks good man, and leather books are great.

Remember that they are books, not interior design, so stupid shit like organizing them by color or turning them around is a flashing neon sign that you don’t read.

When I got married my wife was suprised to have cookbooks in the fridge. My ā€œAny shelf can be a bookshelf,ā€ defense didn’t work.

I’ve never understood this. Most of my books are organized by topic, and then sometimes by author’s name, but I have a shelf of books that I really frequently pick up, and they’re just kind of shoved on the shelf because I grab them so often. Either way, I’m familiar enough with them to recognize the cover or know where I last put it, even if they’re not organized. I feel like organizing by color would be similar. It’s not conventional, but if you know what you have and where you keep it, what does it matter how the books are organized?

My wife and I had this debate with spices. I keep all the spices alphabetically, and all in one place. She’d rather store them ā€œthematicallyā€: baking spices, italian spices, indian spices. Mostly that just means we have cinnamon in a few different places.

I’m now a little tempted to organize my books by color.

I think once you’ve accumulated enough, you have to succumb to chaos.

It’s faster and more efficient. Chaotic, you might say.

Same. As a visual person I scan a bookshelf and already know size/color/title/lettering, so why waste time organizing them?

You’re a monster.

I do understand that haha. Currently I have the books organized by the author’s last name A-Z, but theres a few sets that I like to display differently, like the 3rd and 4th shelves. It also helps take up space, since I’d have 3 empty shelves if I just lined the books up. I do read them, trust me! Once my collection gets much bigger it’ll be harder to do stuff like this.

Alphabetically is the way to go for me. I’ve tended to always think about it like this: if a stranger were to walk in and try to find something, what is the most common/logical way that the organization could be done to make it easier for them? A-Z is what most people jump to first, so that’s what I do.
