Unfortunately I don’t have the pic as this was years, and actually decades ago, but right out of college a buddy of mine had a boat we would go off shore fishing in. He graduated right in to an expat oilfield role and had all the toys during his visits back to the states.
Anyways, we went to out to Matagorda, Texas, our usual spot to launch, and there was a snapper tournament going on. Entry was something like $5k per boat, and the rest of us poors at the time didn’t want to pony up and enter.
The winner would get $100k (probably like eleventy billion in todays economy) an F-150, boat and trailer.
I caught a 38” snapper that day. Had him on ice and ate him later. The tournament winner was 36”.

I mentioned somewhere up thread about begleri. There is an online competition called slingslam going on right now. I don’t expect to win so I submitted a fun entry with some of the beads I have that glow.
It was finally cool enough to get out and about looking for shrooms for a while this morning.
It has been way too dry lately for the target- chanterelle.

Yeah, same here. I found a patch but they were leathery and the first few I tried to salvage had a bunch of worms, so fuck it.
Got some oysters and hen of the woods though.

I was following my nose this morning. I could smell the sweet floral fragrance of oysters, but they just weren’t there.
I have started wood burning. I might post a photo when I get my final outcomes to the point where they do not look like they should hang on the fridge door.
I spent a good 30 seconds trying to figure out what kinda camera angle you used to make the damn fish look so small until I realized the 6lbs was a joke lol
