šŸš“ā€ā™€ļø Lifters Not Lifting (Share Your Hobbies!)

International Judo competitor. Black belt. Blind. Been doing jiu jitsu and wrestling with him for years.

Awesome  Classic Rock, well… rocks  I play mostly 60s-early 80s. It’s a shame so many commercial gyms have to subscribe to music feeds. I understand the royalties, because we have to pay them for the radio station, but our contract lets me play whatever I want. I can’t train with headphones or earbuds… I need to be aware of my surroundings, but when I warm up, I definitely crank some energizing jams. I zone out, anyway; once I get to training I am in my own world.

I was very surprised by some of the truly frank, honest, and graphic accounts of what the soldiers went through. It is one thing to move pieces on a map, roll dice, and have some wiped out, but there is a very human aspect that I feel when I play. I really do my best to avoid casualties as much as I can. I also have memoirs of many of the leading generals, and they reveal so many lessons they learned about life, and not just the battles.

Right now, I am working on an online course with a major company to help disabled athletes regain their sense of identity. I went through a terrible auto accident, and had to be rescued by a helicopter. When that doctor pronounced me ā€˜disabled’ it was a real mind f*ck. That happens to a lot of people who served, too. I didn’t have the opportunity, but I came from a military family.

Shooting, collector of old and rare coins and gold. Martial arts, and walking and hiking with my cat, then carrying my cat home.

Thanks! Well, just trying to stay active. I also mt bike (a lot!), adventure race (quite a lot), and other stuff. I suppose I could toss in some more photos.

Me: I have an interesting and exciting life.

(Reads @PaddlerClymber’s posts)

Me: I am the world’s most uninteresting person.

This thread inspired me to carve again. I am way out of practice. This is a ā€œmini comfort birdā€ or at least it’s supposed to be. Not sure it actually looks like one.

About 3/4ā€ tall, 1.5ā€ long.
Inspiration from Doug Linker on YouTube.

Isn’t your wife the one that made tbe Maxium Overdrive truck face?

Don’t think so

Okay. Took me a while to find it but it was @Basement_Gainz wife. Sorry.

No worries. My wife is very creative and makes quilts. I am hoping some of her talent rubs off on me.

We would love to see them. If not here then the Things you’ve made thread. I think it already has. Your cravings are cute.

Thank you, that’s very kind.
Practice makes better. Got a couple other ideas in the works I can hopefully knock out this week.

Great story! People tend to either love or hate the Smiths.

That’s awesome. I’m just curious - is he blind from birth or did he have martial arts experience before going blind?

Birth. Very limited vision in one eye.

Playing with my little war horse TK

Fishing, duck hunting, shooting. I recently moved to the south where the duck hunting isn’t the best so I decided to rehash an old hobby, mountain biking. Wow have the bikes changed in 10 years! And where I live now, I can hit the trails all year.

Not really a hobby more of a dabbling, but I designed a workbench tool holder for my carving tools and my brother printed it on his 3D printer for me.
