Finally. It took me four days of painfull headaches but I finally did it. I did quit cold turkey.I was accustomed to having a twelve ounce cup in the morning, then another one around mid day, followed by 2-3 diet Pepsis at night. I have noticed my energy levels are much more even rather than hi and low. No more bonk during the day. I feel much better and now there’s no monkey on my back.
Congrats!! Those headaches are a bitch and a half but once you do kick it, life is sweeeet! I’m a reformed ‘pot o’ coffee a day’ (comprised of 1/3 milk, 1/3 sugar and 1/3 coffee) kind of girl and kicking it was hell - I know where you’re coming from. As a side benefit, energy levels are level, sleep is much better, PMS is better (wasn’t terrible, but even easier now), and fat loss has seemed to amp up. Plus, when I do have the occasional cup I really feel and enjoy it!
I couldn’t quit cold-turkey. I had 5 days of constant pain. I switched to tea first (to break the coffee demon). I first did one week of one bag a day (reusing the bag if I wanted more). Last week was one cup a day (further cups were herbal tea). This morning is my first non-caffeine day. I’ve already got a headache.
Awesome job! I quit cold turkey about 6 months ago. Ya, the headaches suck but I don’t even miss it now. If I ever feel like I need a soft drink, which is almost never, I drink a root beer or something without caffeine.
