Oh man I was on a roll and you ruined it. I didn’t even get a chance to talk about “Fast and Furious” And Obama’s denial that his Attorney General would run guns to Mexico. Didn’t get to mention his failure on immigration. His early pullout in Iraq…Oh okay. I have to give him his due…
Obama was especially good at making America irrelevant on the world stage. And increasing those on food stamps by record numbers.
Edit: Can I mention that this has been the slowest growing economy in some 65 years? No? How about lower home ownership?
Okay I will just leave that stuff out.
Let’s all be happy that the worst modern day President is serving out his final hours.

The transition team was 20% under budget and returned money to the taxpayers. He’s also inviting the general public by starting at the Lincoln Memorial. By way of comparison, tickets for admission to the White House lawn were several hundred dollars in face value, and only political insiders could get them, for G.W.B’s inauguration. If Trump is real, then I may have to eat crow in front of my Republican friends. He’s been an incredibly disruptive influence on American politics and, as much as I’ve squirmed and will continue to squirm, I think it’s been needed. Someone must care about working people in this country rather than demonizing them. We (and I include myself in this) underestimated him.
What I find so amusing (in an incredibly dark way) though is that the Democracts refuse to admit they’ve been outmaneuvered. The Republicans control the Presidency, both houses of Congress, and the majority of Governorships. I would have hoped the Democrats would have listened and learned how out of touch they were in terms of their attacks on the working class, but they will continue to focus on L.A. and New York. I hope Trump can lead, but from what I’ve seen we continue to fracture as a country and I’m afraid there is a real probability that the current rise in violence will only get worse. I hope I’m wrong.
Let me state that I’m not a fan of the far right. That said, they at least get the criticism they deserve, and ANY violence, and particularly a shooting, should be cause for concern for everyone. But it’s not. Violent attacks against the right are ignored or nodded at by even moderate Democrats. I desperately want to see compromise, but I’m increasingly losing faith in popular support for our Constitution and a sense of fair application of justice. I’ve seen minority peers raise hell over racist graffiti and shootings by police of black men with criminal records and yet completely ignore and openly mock the beating of a Trump voter and the disabled white man. That scares me. It’s no longer about justice but “our race” or “our side” and it’s already violent. I think we (and I include myself because I want to see a truly inclusive and pluralistic society where people respect each other) lose any moral standing when open black racism and anti-white violence is tacitly approved or even celebrated. There has to be a respect for law, Constitutional rights, and a fair application of both to all people. If we are to actually improve race relations then it’s only going to happen through open and free discussion, and a willingness to see through each other’s eyes. I see no indication of that happening, and I find thst terrifying.
