Kudos to the President

Irrelevant to the subject.

Oh, yes, he is. But he and Nixon are close. In fact, that is the closest comparison.

Well, they might be spot on given the fact that we had the two most unpopular candidates to ever run for the Presidency. This is the first time that so many people voted ā€œagainstā€ instead of "for: a certain candidate. I guess it’s a given that just over half the country will hate him. He is really going to have to perform in order for that to change.

Perhaps but let’s not give a pass to Barack. He had his enemies list and the IRS to go after them. I know, there is no proof of this as he had an exceptionally friendly media (unlike Nixon). But Lois Lerner taking the 5th 78 times should tell us something.

Or dies.

The syphilis will probably get him.

I think you misunderstand the effect of the Comey/Rogers testimony. There are rumblings that the crux of the question is now whether or not Obama was actually spying on Trump and his transition team. That won’t hurt Trump.

As far as the ACHA, the damage is already done. I don’t think it gets much worse from here.

In any case, the larger question is if Congress distancing itself from Trump means that they will vote to impeach. You need a good reason to impeach someone even if you don’t support them. I doubt the Republican congress will ever feel worse about Trump than they did about Obama. They never made a serious effort to impeach Obama. If there is an undeniable smoking gun, they will impeach. But I have a hard time believing that Congress will make a serious effort to impeach Trump without fairly solid evidence of undeniable wrongdoing.

I certainly fall into that camp.

Something started by Trump. Anyone paying attention knows incidental collection ≠ ā€œObama tapped my phonesā€. And it, of course, brings up a larger question of who his team was talking to.

I like your optimism.

I’m uninterested in nourishing your Obama Derangement Syndrome. Your tactic has always been to shift focus from criticism of a Republican by always changing the subject to a Democrat’s transgressions. It’s not relevant - what matters is the man in front of us. And the man in front of us - independent of what any of his predecessors did or didn’t do - is a national embarrasment.

Obama was no prize, but he looks like George Washington by comparison in the areas of professionalism and temperment.

If that’s the criteria, given the existence of multiple investigations, you lose already.

Pinging off of this, it’s my impression that he hates being President, and part of him is longing to resign.

Edit: Upon reading one more comment, I see @thunderbolt23 beat me to the punch on this score.

Not I–I think he finds it a serious impediment to his preferred lifestyle.

Agreed. I thought Howard Stern summed it up nicely (and certainly explains his continued ā€œralliesā€):

ā€œI personally wish that he had never run, I told him that, because I actually think this is something that is gonna be detrimental to his mental health too, because, he wants to be liked, he wants to be loved,ā€ Stern said. ā€œHe wants people to cheer for him.ā€

In these parts (my state has the highest rate of syphilis in the nation), syphilis is known colloquially as ā€˜the bad blood.’

Edit: I have personally diagnosed, by estimation, about 100 cases of the bad blood. It is an awkward conversation.

I’m sure it’s a wonderful conversation…

It’s especially tricky when the pt is married, and his/her spouse accompanies them on all their clinic visits.

As someone who doesn’t do great with awkward conversations, I can tell you that reading this line just hurt my stomach a bit. Maybe you need a laughtrack like in TV. That would probably loosen everybody up.

IMO, Trump loves attention even more than he loves money. He loves this shit.

There was a far greater chance that he’d drop out of the Presidential race, than resign as President now that he has actually won.

Nothing ever bothered Obama because he knew you just didn’t understand because you weren’t as smart as he was. No idea how to phrase Trump’s warped version of this, but it’s exactly the same concept.

In a prior post I was comparing Trump to other Presidents that, to me, seemed off kilter. Then YOU compared Trump to Nixon. I then said that Trump is not the only one who had Nixon like traits mentioning Obama. I went no further than the IRS incident.
