Okay as long as you admit there are many others, we are agreed.[/quote]

How many racists were there in the 1950’s? Was it okay then because there were lots of them?

You must have a very low opinion of yourself to eagerly lump yourself in with the bigots.

Does it mean that much to you to be able to bash religion and religious people?

Why don’t you actually try to improve?

That is the usual M.O. of those who believe OP to be real. So, I made an presumption of what your plan is based on others. If you have some ingenious plan I’d like to hear it.

Yes, I really think overpopulation is a myth.

Only if we don’t allow ourselves to become complacent. In other words, we have to make it a myth. Otherwise, if everyone just passively sits there and doesn’t try to do anything to curtail the effects of a growing population, that ‘myth’ may very well come to fruition.

You seem like a man very firm in his faith Chris but also one that I could actually have a beer with and relax and talk calmly about our differences in world view, whatever they may be. The above post is an example of the worst of what over-religious thinking does to people. It’s a friggin joke that Stewart pulled on air, yeah, he’s got a bigger audience but it’s a jab at best. He jabs the hell out of the Jewish religion on his show as well. I think you can see the difference, you can say/think what you wish and no one on here will change that but if all you get out the Daily Show is "this guy is a bigot and drew everything he says…well we just have to agree to disagree… but I think you (or anyone that feels the same) is taking life just a wee bit too seriously my brother.
On a side note, anyone here dissing Stewart better damn well not like Chris Rock, Carlin, Hicks, or any number of other comedians who have said worse.

I don’t think so. The world fertility rate has been decreasing dramatically over the past 40 years.

From what I’ve seen, no. In 25 years, according to the U.N. it should peak and then head down from there. In about 75 years we’ll have the same amount of people we have now.

The world clock predicts a population of 10billion at 2050 and then a slow and steady decline. These 10 billion people as their cultures get more advanced are going to want more and more. It’s necessary to discover ways of doing this without screwing our globe over.

If we grow lax and say screw it, then we might have problems.

Okay, well the U.N. says 25 years, we add 1 billion people every ~15 years. So, that will put us at 8.5-9 billion people and then decline. Further, supply and demand will take care of the rest. The more demand for something, the higher the price, the more money for inventions to make something cheaper. People forget that invention makes it much easier for a larger group of people to live. If we had the technology we had in 1910’s it would feel as though we are severely over-populated.

True. A large portion of the population have not left their domiciles since the invention of the internet. I’m about half-way there myself.

I guess the point is that the line between what is considered poking fun and what is disrespect is all subjective to the audience. I didn’t see this as some major offront to Christianity not any more than the average remarks on this very forum. Yes Christianity COULD be easily pigeoned into an alibi, so could any religion really.
The link you posted is from a site with an agenda and I’m sure that there is nary a light heart amongst those that run it up.

This line from the link: “As usual, he had nothing insulting to say about Judaism or Islam.” tells you directly about their level of bias. As usual? Ummm if you maybe watched the show more than a couple of times or didnt just have people sifting through the material to find something they could get offended at, you would know he probably pokes fun at Jews/Islam more than or equal to any other religion.

Difference with Muslims is that everyone has given them even more of a pass because they don’t want to get bombed.

Bottom line is no matter how you phrase something when it comes to religion, someone will get offended. You may look at the Muslims and the Danish cartoonist with a wtf is wrong with these people attitude. They feel the same as you do, they just have less inclination to act like civilized humans.

higher demand, more money. Money is a great motivator…though Catholicism is better in my opinion: look at our medieval monks.
