Job/Education Suggestions?

Hey they got a participation trophy playing soccer where no one kept score.

All they need to do is show up at any company and they should be hired.

I mean they are a unique snowflake.

You are just getting old and dont understand the plight of the youth of today.

Well that’s gonna be this kid’s only post lol.

Gay or bestiality?
Why limit it to one or the other?

I think he’s suitable for both.

I see nothing wrong with not wanting to work a shit job.

a 19yr old will get no sympathy, but why should someones goal be to work a job they hate? Maybe slave away to make ends meet til you find something you enjoy and pays the bills, but this attitude of “life sucks, deal with it” is bullshit.

Do you have a family to support?
Do you have bills which will land you in jail if they are not paid?

If no, then do whatever the fuck you want because you dont owe anyone anything.

If lived in Austria, i’d being doing something in the skiing industry.

Im 19 years old, studying med School atm, but ill quit doing that.

I was pretty good in high School without studying anything, thats why i went to University. Problem is Im simply not interested in most studies(law, economy, technical, art, health studies not anymore)

My “Dream” Job would look like this:
max 40 hours/week (normal for labourers in Austria)
being outside most of the time (preferably nature)
Not primarily physical work, but at least some (40-60% physical, rest intellectual would be the Optimum)
traveling a lot would be nice, but is not a real criterium

Has anyone got suggestions/ideas/personal success stories?
Im asking here cause most of the People, that know me say that id fit into technical University, but i hate crunching numbers day in day out.
Electrical Engineer at a power company. Your “Dream Job” is about what I do every week. College was pretty fucking difficult, but hard work pays off. It doesn’t sound like you’re willing to do that.

Well said, I agree.
Obviously everyone isn’t going to work a dream job, but fuck it if you truly hate your job then get out and find something that you at least get some satisfaction from.
I’ve quit several jobs cause they sucked, only to move onto better & higher paying jobs with lower hours each time.
If your single with no debt then be fussy, it’s your life!

To the OP, a geologist might suit you but you’ll have to go to college? Huge demand for them now in the mining & oil & gas industry. The money some of these guys are commanding is insane.

Look at becoming a Game Warden. Or the Austrian equivalent.
“Foerstner” …

Why not-

I’m sorry, but some Cupcake doesn’t want to put in the work (note comments on college and high school) buts wants a “dream job”?

Lmao.

And my responses are “bullshit”?

I mean look, yes, “follow your dreams” do whatever you want, but don’t show up and bitch and moan about it later if people that put in work over years are doing better. The OP screams entitlement. The rest of the world doesn’t owe him anything, and the market isn’t going to cater to his whims of utopian fantasy. Most times in life you have to eat a shit sandwich or two before you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

But by all means, keep blowing smoke up people’s asses, it’s working out so well. Occupy needs a new base.

Hmmm, imagine that. You put in work and effort and now do something you enjoy and get paid well to do it?

Nah… Can’t be. I mean, “life is tough and takes work” is bullshit.

Only if its 40 hours MAX a week.

lmao.

Anyone that says they make real money and only work 40 hours a week (or in some cases didn’t work more than that for years prior) is a liar.

You don’t make real money only working 2080 a year. You just don’t.
I guess it depends on what you mean by “real” money. I am not wealthy by any means but am very comfortable and my wife and I both work forty hour work weeks.

I did put in major hours when I was his age, but then I had to, to make enough to live on.
Testy1 wrote:

It is rare that this doesn’t happen at some point in a career. Rare.

Most successful people that make real money work more than 2080, or at the very least did for a period of time in their career.

Suggestion - garbage in = garbage out. If you want something bad enough, you had better be ready to work for it. Unless you can pull something off as being self-employed, get in the habit of working for something that you want bad enough. A lot of self-made successes stories may not have necessarily been built on busting ass in academia, but you’d better be willing to perspire elsewhere. Don’t expect anything to be handed to you on a silver platter.

Gay horses will knock them both out…

I don’t see what people are getting upset about. OP never said anything against working hard or demanding high pay… just looking into possible careers with normal work hours (they’re called normal for a reason), outdoors, and a mix of physical labor and intellectually challenging work, with the potential for some travel. He’s 19 and trying to figure out what’s out there… getting all negative only communicates, “Don’t do what I do… it will make you a grumpy old man that complains about the kids today with their hipping and their hopping.”

OP, things to consider:
-Are these things you would like to do right after graduation or at some point in the future? How do you expect this mix to change over time?
-Have you actually done physical labor for anything longer than a couple hours?
-What do you find intellectually challenging?
-Do you like to work alone? In teams? Directly with the general public?

“A criterium, or crit, is a bike race held on a short course (usually less than 1 mile), often run on closed-off city center streets.” – Wikipedia

Not everyone’s dream job is six figures and a corner office that comes from years of sucking dick and hating life.

Damn! Beans must have struck a nerve.

That floor gauge operator job at walmart not all you dreamed it would be?

Since it sounds like you’ve already got some background in medicine/biology, you could look into being a veterinarian working on large animals.

Other than having to be on call some of the time, that meets most of your criteria: outside, some physical, some intellectual, some travel.
