Jesus or Burn

I feel badly for JPBear. It seemed that she had recently converted, and recent converts tend to be overzealous. The same thing happens with people on diets or who discover a new TV show that they really like… with the difference being that the religious convert thinks that her friends are going to hell.

I’ve known so many people who’ve converted and driven away their friends by preaching to them. They often mellow out as time goes by.
I guess your “theory” doesn’t hold water for me, since I have been a believer in Christ for 13 years now. My zeal for the Lord has increased over time as I understand His Word more and more.

Bow or Burn, Nephorm!

They eventually realize that no one wants to hear their bullshit, and most folks would rather not be around them.

It has happened to people I know also…it’s not even like talking to the same person. Disgusting. Keep it.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Irish, rather than you or our friend nephorn scoffing at people that have come to Christ, you only confirm what the Bible teaches about salvation. That any person who truly gets saved, becomes a “new creation,” where former things dim and the new life in Christ takes over.

Thanks to you for reaffirming my faith!

Bow or Burn, Irish!

I’ll see you in hell dick.

Bow or Burn, how inviting. Did you come up with it by yourself, steveo5801, or is it a standard slogan in your church?

It’s not a theory. I wasn’t trying to apply a theory to you. I think JPBear is a genuinely caring person who is hurting very much. That saddens me, and I hope that she is as devout and happy in the Lord as she wants us all to be.

I do not, nor have I ever scoffed at someone finding Christ.

I have never been anti-religion.

I have poked (gentle) fun at you, steveo, because your pronouncements are almost parodies of curbside fundamentalist preachers. I don’t have a problem with your beliefs.

I am not enamored of the way in which you convey them.

I don’t think Jesus would’ve said “Bow or burn,” or ridiculed those who had not found God. Reading the New Testament, Jesus was remarkably meek, for the son of God.

You come off as very haughty and prideful, steveo. I have my doubts that this is a winning method of conversion.

I got some serious questions.

1 - What if I choose burn?
2 - How is it merciful to punish someone who has never heard of God by burning them in hell?

I talked to a jehovas wit… um, i mean a friend told me how a friend of his talked to a jehovas witness (who besides being utterly annoying, usually knows alot of the bible). I… um, he asked him how he could believe in a god, with so crystal clear propaganda, that you’ll either go to paradise or burn in hell.

It turns out that neither hell nor satan is really mentioned in the bible (It is a belif that survived from older religion through a latin and a hard to read bible). And the closest verse about the unbeliever in afterlife says something like:

“… and he who won’t believe shall not see, not feel, nor know that he is dead”

Basicly what an atheist believes happens in “afterlife”. Can anybody prove me wrong, and show a verse reciting hell or satan?

If the Christian God - as He is perceived by the likes of Steveo - did exist, and he was all powerful and all knowing, then surely he’d recruit someone with slightly better social skills and powers of persuasion than SteveO to be his spokesman.

I mean, this is the 21st century now, you’d have thought the Omnipotent Lord of All would be able to hire Alastair Campbell or some other proven spin-doctor to help his cause, surely??

I went onto T-Nation expecting to find something new. What did I find, the same blah, blah, blah, blah – man’s “grand” ideas about how the universe works and more slander against the Lord of Heaven and His Messiah – God Incarnate – The Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you guys not see the “handwriting on the wall?” With all of the wars going on and the nuclear threats – especially in the Middle East – tells me that the end times are a commin’.

[b] The choice is yours: Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and call out to Him, or burn.

          Bow or Burn

There is no other choice friends. It is either flee off of the broad road that is leading you to destruction in an eternal Hell and get onto the narrow way that leads to LIFE. Yes LIFE – life eternal.

The day is coming that you will no longer be able to make that choice. Make it now. The time is short.

         Bow or Burn

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but thta the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

John 3:16-18

A few years back, on About’s A/A forum, a poster called Crosshatch summed up the whole divine “plan” thingy beautifully:

The first little prototype couple in God’s bad science project made ONE mistake and “Mister Love and Mercy” drove his own “children” out of their home and held a grudge for century after century. His idea of clearing it all up was to climb into a virgin and pop out wearing a baby suit so that he could grow up and get nailed to a Redneck torture machine so he could pay some kind of “sin bill” back to himself before he “un-died” and flew back to sit at the right hand of himself so that whoever believed all this insanity wouldn’t have to go to Hell because he loves us all so much.

Well said. And precisely right.
steveo5801 wrote:

Sorry you feel that way, Thuderbolt, but it is interesting when people such as yourself protest Christian threads. Why don’t you protest the plethora of “gay” threads and threads that bash conservatives?
Because this is the Politics forum and we can have a discussion on those various topics.

There is a difference between discussion and proselytizing - you prefer the latter. How do I know this? You don’t raise any original questions, you only swoop in to bait the non-Christians here with a cheap, used-car-salesman phrase like “Bow or Burn!” This is a signal that we aren’t going to have a rational discussion about religion within the context of politics, but rather a snit fight.

Which, frankly, appears to be exactly what you want, whether you fess up to it or not.

Well, if this is true, you do a horrible job at it. Sorry to inform you of it. You want to get people to think about Christianity - a laudable goal - but you don’t make people think about it constructively. You don’t challenge anyone - you just throw cheap slogans at people and then act sanctimonious. I can say, at least from the small sample on these forums, that you are probably more responsible for driving people away from Christianity rather than attracting them to it.

Sorry, SteveO, I admire your faith - but another thread like this does nothing, repeat nothing to advance the goals you claim to be interested in.

Also, I am sorry that you are completely wrong about my motivation. While I know that this will agitate, my only concern is to stir up people to think about God, His Word, and that not everything there is is everything we see.

Sweet, another Rapture lunatic. Good to see the Left Behind theology is alive and well.

Interesting…

…long ago, people who believed God were called Christians, Bible-Believers, Religious, not “lunatics.”

What really is lunatic is to believe a lie that there is no God, and go on living as if we will not be judged.

Bow or Burn, GDollars37!

I’m a Christian, just not the kind who goes around proselytizing to those who aren’t interested, and with threats of damnation and hellfire no less. As for “the end times are a commin’”, try reading Revelations allegorically. Do you even know what that means?

It’s people Like Steve that made me leave my faith.

what gives you the right to judge people.

bow or burn, that to me says that the only reason your beleive in God is to save your soul, not because it’s the right thing or because it helps people but just to save yourself.

Yeah that’s why I want to be a christian.

Right, I guess, “doctor,” that you would also diagnose Jesus Christ Himself if He were here that way too. I say this, because I am simply quoting what Jesus said and the Truth of His Word.

I am in very good company!

Bow or Burn my arrogant friend!

That’s a really interesting reponse Steve. I do think though this is disguised hostility to your fellow men.

So I ask why ?

What’s the underlying issue you think maybe ?

You do understand you are as far as the law in concerned in most countries you are threatening people ?

Seriously, steveo, what is the difference between “convert or be beheaded” and “bow or burn”?
