You gotta learn to do it sometime.
What if something breaks on the trail?

I’m leasing an 05 Laredo. Nice truck but I gotta get rid of it. Its running me a 100$ a week on gas. Plus I’m so paranoid about messing something up and having to pay for it.Oh, and the acceleration SUCKS. I guess the V-8 is where its at for acceleraion.

And the ride’s too bumpy for my taste…

My TJ has a Dana 44 rear and a Dana 35 front. I think my gears are currently 4:10 (whatever is stock) but I want to move to 4:56. Just so hard to get the money for the install let alone the parts themselves.[/quote]

Sounds good Dana 44 is a good axle but you prob have a dana 30 up front considering there is no such thing as a front dana 35. Also If you have a 6cyl engine then you have 3.08 or 3.73 gears if a 4cyl engine then you have 4.10 gear .( this is if your drivetrain is stock .)

One thing that might help it getting the right gears and what not is to search some of the 4x4 forums many times people are selling axles with the gears you are looking for for a low price because they are upgrading to something like dana44’s front and rear or 60’s .And then you have there axles plus yours for spares on the trail .

I think its usually 3.73 in the auto.

Correct you are .

Now that I think about it, the Ford Ranger uses the Dana 35 in the front end, I’m pretty sure. But I’m not sure if that was before or after it was independendent front suspension (vs twin traction beam).

You fix it, or Jerry rig it to get out. I carry extra drivelines, axles, various parts and a welder. Boohhya!
