Outkast, don’t post if you’re going to post insane paranoid stuff. No one said anyting about the Yankess, its about Giambi. The reason they’re bringing it up is not because he’s in NY but because he was cranking it with Oakland, then the Yankees paid him a shitload and he went there, and cranked it, but then this balco stuff came out and lately he hasn’t been hitting as well, seems to be getting less buff, and is having these mysterious medical problems. It seems that the balco scandal and resulting spotlight caused him to stop taking and his performance is down and he’s having health problems. Or maybe he was already having problems, I don’t know. The life threatening parasite infection sounds wierd and interesting, but I’m going with steroid complications or improper use.
Anyone who says baseball isn’t taxing on the body has no idea what they are talking about and never played the game at a high level. Games last anywhere from 21/2-4 hours and thats 6 times a week mostly. Imagine having 3 off days a month? Also, don’t forget that by the time you turn on the tv for the first pitch those guys have already been there taking BP, fielding practice, extra work for a few hours prior to the game. Most also do some type of conditioning after the game as well. While Football is a train wreck once a week, baseball eats your body away slowly with nagging overuse injuries. It very damaging to the shoulder, elbow, and back. Play it long enough at a high level and its not if you’ll have surgury its most likely when. All my friends and myself included who played through college or beyond carry permanent damage to our bodies from the sport we loved. There are thousands of great players out there but the ones who make it the majors (and play for long time, ie Clemons)are true freaks of nature to have there bodies endure the game for that long and if they need a little juice to make it through I can’t really say i blame them.
Ok, please relax guys. Look at the second response to the post guys. What does it say?
"as a yankee hater it bring me pleasure to think of all of the $$$…etc. etc. etc. "
Yankee hater. so my response was entirely relevant. And Rob C., I was talking about the retard who posted after you, kenmen. The one who flamed me for saying that the yankees were so great, which was not my point. I understand the thread was about Giambi, but I was trying to bring up a counterpoint that maybe Giambi was getting all of this attention since he is now on a large market team and one of the star palyers. This is a point that someone in the thread later stated!!! I think you guys owe me an apology, either that or ask me what I mean before you decide that I’m paranoid and/or a roidhead. Thanks gentlemen.
Outkast:
I definitely do not owe you an apology. You spent the better part of two or three messages expounding on how fabulous the Yankees are because they are great for baseball, etc. You wrote much more about that than about Giambi.
You called me a retard. I admit that my reply about the Yankees hopefully getting beaten again in the World Series by a team with a much lower payroll was a smart aleck reply… but, did I call you any names or attack you personally? No.
By the way, I grew up in Northern NJ and was a Yankees fan as a kid. However, like a lot of other people I don’t root for them now. But, I concede they are a tough team and know how to win. I like that about them. But, I’m still going to root for other teams to knock them off.
You’re right bro, sorry for the name-calling. Didn’t mean to preach or anything, I played baseball for a long time and it’s my favorite sport, so I get a little nuts once in a while. Anyway, apologies to all for stealing the thread a little, and I understand where you are coming from. I know when to eat crow. Lata…
Well I guess I was wrong. They’re saying Giambi has a tumor. Sure they could be lying, and steroids could’ve sped up the growth, but I doubt it.
They should let him grow back his hair and 5 o’clock shadow.
Giambi is getting more attention because he’s in New York. But since when is that either a bad thing or a new thing?
Anyway, this announcement of a benign tumour is a scary one. Not sure that the steroids could be implicated or not, but it seems like the Yankees are being a little mum on this one.
They did only place him on the 15 Day DL as opposed to the 60 day DL, but I still don’t understand how a begnin tumour can sap so much of your energy.
Anyone with a medical background that can shed some light?
P.S. Outkast: next time just be the quiet confident fan of the Yankees instead of the loud obnoxious one. Yankees fans have no reason to be insecure. Let the record speak for itself.
