James Woods is an Idiot
Headhunter wrote:
Based upon the standing O that Chavez got, at a college in NY, for saying Bush is the Devil and is committing genocide, I’d say Woods is spot on. The audience should have chased the scum from the building. I’d have loved to put a pipe wrench or my size 15s across Chavez’s face.

Hopefully, the mindless morons who applauded this bag of shit don’t represent American men too much.
You are definitely a tough man. Your toughness is reminiscent of the Col. Fitts character from American Beauty beguiling your sensitive side underneath the rough exterior.

All I can say for sure is that YES, there are many American male pussies, but not all of us. Also, damn Woods was a freak in Videodrome! haha

That’s what I’d thought of too, when someone said James Woods doesn’t play badasses himself. Videodrome. He could be argued to be somewhat badass in that movie. The guy had a gun for a hand.

From there I naturally thought of “A History of Violence” bringing to mind an American who still plays badasses: Viggo Mortensen!

First of all, if you are taking offense to James Woods’ comment, you should try acting…because you are probably the type he’s insulting, metroboy…

Second, I don’t think he’s necessarily insulting the actors that are chosen…I’m seeing this as more of an insult to the general public in the US who suport (more and more) a metro and weak/girly man and say that this is the way for men to be.

Perhaps it’s more a statement against the culture of america which is more and more defining a man as a pretty and girly estrogen-filled boy than of an authoritative, aggressive and take charge kind of testosterone-driven man.

BTW, I say this because I’m American and I fully agree with James Woods on this one.

What was wrong with Crank? That shit was funny as Hell. He definitely wasn’t a pussy in it. I mean, he only killed like 10 people, but…

I agree!
True, his character was pretty tough, but the overall movie was horrible. One scene (newspaper sex scene in this case) cannot salvage a movie. However my disdain for Crank is due in part to the complete misrepresentation of the movie by the trailer. I expected more of a fight movie, not him running around with boner half the time.

Yeah, Woods must be right. Because it took a Venezuelan to speak the truth, while 'Mericans like you suck daddy government dick over Fox News.

Good post. I didn’t get that he was truly talking about other actors either. If the “ideal man” has now become some guy weighing about 160lbs with highlights, lip gloss and a waif-like physique, exactly how far are we removed from what men are supposed to be? Do guys even change their own tires now?

Should I get the bag-boy to carry my groceries to the car?

I wore my leather jacket today. It doesn’t match my shoes. Should I exchange it?

I shaved my head this morning but did NOT shape and pluck my eyebrows. Did I just commit a major fashion faux pas?

If my nuts itch, should I scratch them?

Does anyone know where I can find a pink skin tight polo in a XXL?

Collar popped or not popped?

The Rock
Vin Diesel
John Cena (sp?) He has a movie coming out.
Jesus wept.

I’m the guy who coined the phrase, so I think I get to weigh in here.

Being a T-Man has to do with intelligence as much as it has to do with bravery and integrity. Physicality is a plus, but it’s not crucial.

And that right there was what my original statement was all about. I wasn’t talking about older actors at all. I was talking about young men in our society. Be it actors or just general young men.

There is a definite pussification going on in this country. And the sooner we open our eyes and realize this. The sooner we can do something about it.

There is no possible definition of pathetic that is complimentary.

If an actor effectively inpires pathos in his audience, couldn’t we compliment him by saying his performance was pathetic?
Smartass.

And no, I don’t think we could. Pathetic implies contempt, and is rarely used otherwise in contemporary speech. One probably ought to use ‘poignant.’

Don’t forget Cop, the fairly unknown Woods movie based on James Ellroy’s Killer in the Rain. He is most cool in that one.

Viggo was cowboy cool in Hidalgo. How long was that horse race through the desert, a 500 miles or so?

I know Chuck Norris could probably go it on foot, but still that’s pretty badass.

So, who from modern day American culture would be a good example of this?

I agree, however, Rock is a very smart man but I dont think thats what Woods meant though with his comments. I think he is just speaking solely about brawn and toughness.

Denzel and Norton off the top of my head plus Samuel L.

The first guy that comes to my mind is Pat Tillman. Smart, strong, brave, and stood up for what he believed in.

Now many might not agree or understand the decisions he made. But, you can’t discredit him for standing strong in his beliefs.

Yeah, very good choice. A couple that I also think would fall into this category would be Jesse Ventura and Bob Kerry.

I still fail to see how anyone could be considered a pussy for criticizing the government and a tough guy for believing whatever they’re told. It’s clearly the opposite.

If there’s one thing America and Australia have in common, over any other countries, it’s how braindead the average citizen remains over rampant plutocracy and its murder for money: the truest evil.

Agreed.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.”

James Woods is right. He is not saying he hates America or Americans, he is saying most guys now are pussies and he is right.

If you don’t see a majority of male pussies surrounding you on a daily basis and see a majority of tough guys, …its becuase you are the pussy and everyone is tougher than you.

No go change your maxi pad before you stain your skirt.

There is quite a bit of difference between dissent and spouting that the President is overseeing genocide. At this point it is not a critique of the administration or policy, it is merely a personal attack. And quite a ridiculous one. It certainly shades anything else that you may have to say that may actually be interesting or important or possibly even true.
