Issue With Neighbor

Restraining order or order of protection is a good idea. [/quote]

Getting a protective order is difficult and requires the finding of imminent harm.

An order of “criminal tresspass,” however, is easy and is often the first step a prosecutor would require.

Just have her call the cops, say this guy is creepy, she fears for her safety.

A cop will come and serve him with a notice to stay off her property. If he comes, he can then be arrested. This stops all but the weirdest and is as useful as a protective order, in that a weirdo will also ignore a protective order, anyway.

Makes the inevitable shooting of this loon much more defensible, too, in that there will be a paper trail showing he had no business there.

Sound advice, you know more about it than I do. I’ve known a few people with orders of protection against crazy ex-spouses. She should definitely be thinking about the possibility of capping this stalking mofo.

Thanks. I finally had to go this route on a religious group who targeted us repeatedly attempting to proselytyze (sp?) into whatever group they were in, apparently because a Jewish family is a big score to them.

Started with a knock, and a polite “we’re not interested” from Mrs. Jewbacca.

Then two came with pamplets, then 3, etc.

Eventually it was letters warning us we were members of the “synagogue of Satan.”

This may sound obviouse but before involving the law and all kinds of drama. I would just confront the guy and say straight up my sister thinks your weird she wants you to not mess with her. If I hear you are still bugging her Im gonna come over here and knock you out. If hes a big guy bring a friend. Better do this now before you get a call at 4AM with your sister crying that this dude is wakking it in the front yard. Just my $.02

‘Synagogue of Satan’ would make for a great nightclub name. Or strippy bar, but with kids these days it’s more or less the same thing. Darn young’uns…

No, it was something wierd, though. Not your typical evangelical group. Not Mormon, either.

Has OP done a shit on this guys doorstep yet?

Amway.

They’re the worst.

Thank you all for the continued advice. I am going over there this evening to confront him and let him know he’s not welcome on my property and that while we appreciate his intent to help, we are just fine and that we’d appreciate it if he’d kindly stay out of our business. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

But do have a flaming bag-of-poo ready to go as a back up.

Rob

I can speak from experience having dealt with the creepiest of the creepsters! She really needs to be assertive with him and make it crystal clear that his advances are unwanted.

It sounds like she has some things in place to help create some security for herself, especially while at home (i.e. gun, security system, gate, etc.) but I would do more. I took self-defense classes which definitely made me feel more confident. At times I have carried a pocket knife on me and mace (although, I have heard that mace is not necessary useful). I also have a LTC concealed which I have never actually done but could be something worth looking into if she is feeling that threatened.

She should definitely switch up her daily routine (like her a.m. walk), since it sounds like this guy is really familiar with it. When I jog alone in rural parks I actually borrow a friend’s dog and I haven’t had an issue with a weirdo since.

It might be worth pursuing a no-trespassing order. I don’t know anything about it though as I’ve never gone that route.

Let us know how it went.
