Is this Monkey overtraining?

Heya Manimals, I’ve been off weights for the week as I hurt my arm (mentioned in previous posts for those of you making a Monkeyboy Eric scrap book) and have just been doing some ComCon and ab stuff to keep active. Funny thang is, and I’ve noticed it on layoff periods before, that I feel harder and more chiseled when I work out less. COuld I be overtraining by working out four days a week? I’m only 20, and my workouts NEVER surpass an hour, still, I always feel better with fewer training days. Any productive thoughts? Thanks in advance.
-Will Monkeyboy Eric’s questions be answered? Will he continue to be baffled in the face of obviousness? Who is behind this dastardly act of depravity? Tune in next post to find out…

Eric, I’ve trained with weights three, four, five and six days a week. My best gains seem to come from three-day-a-week training with intense workouts and plenty of hardwork (as I’m doing now). I feel more recovered between workouts. In addition to three weight training days, I stay active on my other days with various activities (stadiums, mountain biking, in-line skating, etc). That seems to work best for me. So the same may work for you. Remember, you know your body best!

Poliquin and King recommend that you take a week off every 12 weeks of training. It may just mean that you were overdue for a break.

Eric: T-mag Issue No. 138 has a good article on this subject entitled “The Recovery Battlefield” by James Wilson. Among other things, it describes how to monitor yourself for signs of overtraining. Check it out…

funny you should make this observation, i recently had the same epiphany, I am 19 and a college student who usually trains intensly 5 times a week, i took a vacation with some of my friends and tightened up like a rock, also my bf% dropped.
