Is My Phone Being Tapped?

We injected a bug into his ear lobe, it doesn’t matter what he uses.

.

Depending on your occupation I wouldn’t be surprised.

I wouldn’t worry about a thing until you see the black helicopters.

Although, by then it’s too late…

I’m a telecommunications engineer, and I can tell you right now that if your line was being tapped, it wouldn’t cause an echo. The echo is caused by poorly shield connections somewhere along the line.

Call your phone company. Tell them that you think the line has been tapped. If the problem persists or they give you an obviously bogus reason, start encrypting all sensitive communication.

For now, crypto material and software is legal in the US.[/quote]

Honestly, you’re giving him advice as if you’re actually entertaining the idea that his phone might be tapped?

It’s not.

Assuming they’re not snooping at the service-provider level (which would require a warrant - in theory), a tap would alter the bandwidth makeup. Analyzing the signal, you should be able to see new spikes.

The OP might have meant it as a joke. I’m not sure.

All I know is that we know many governments routinely intercept communication. Dissidents are at a higher risk of being targeted. Even if he’s not under investigation at the moment, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t take every step to protect his privacy. I should know: I tapped my neighbors’ line as a teenager for no other reason than “because I can”.

As a side note, the Temporary Committee on the ECHELON Interception System advises people to encrypt their communication. And that was before the blows to civil liberties for the so-called War on Terror.

Just use your cell phone for your conversations about criminal activities like everybody else does.

Cell phones are even easier to bug on than a landline. your location can be tracked, it can act like a room bug, or the calls can be monitored.

Only safe way to be totally secure is to take out your sim card and battery.
