Is It OK To Be White? I'm Not Sure

The amount of unmerited arrogance it would take someone to write an article like this…

Paranoid, hyperactive, vegan, infrequent sex, outdoor living. It’s definitely not for me but I could see it working for some people.

The fact that there are so many people who have the same mentality as the author of that article is the exact reason that someone put up posters saying it’s OK to be white.

I thought that was bloody obvious. Has anyone ever considered that this kind of over-reaction to things like these are the reason minorities, especially new immigrants, are freaking out? Neo-nazis? Come on…

Last night I read something that is supposedly a letter from the guy who put up those posters. I’m not going to post the link because the source is a bit questionable, but the guy who runs the site is from Winnipeg so it could very well be for real. I will just post the relevant points.

" I am the student who put up the ‘It’s Okay To Be White’ flyers at the University of Manitoba.

The flyers were intended to convey one thing and one thing only: IT’S OKAY TO BE WHITE.

They were posted in protest of a racially discriminatory ideology that is taught at the University of Manitoba that targets white individuals."

" I have been a student at the University of Manitoba for several years now, and the horrifying reality is that many professors explicitly teach in their courses that it is in fact NOT okay to be white.

Professors at the University of Manitoba teach that white people:

  • Are guilty of possessing “unearned privilege and power”

  • Are inherently, by their very existence, oppressing “people of colour”

  • Are born “racist” and are the only racial group capable of being “racist”

  • Must submit to “people of colour” by "giving up their power

Professors at the University of Manitoba also teach:

  • That white people “giving up power” involves reducing the proportion of white people in business organizations and government (mandatorily enforced “diversity”) [Note: This is ethnic cleansing]

  • That white people must accept becoming a minority demographic (and thus lose their right to self-determination) in their own countries as penance for “colonialism”

[Ironically, people who adhere to the above ideology have asked the president of the University of Manitoba, David Barnard himself, to “give up his power” (because he is white) by stepping down so he can be replaced by an “Indigenous leader” so as to “combat inequality and racism”.]

" The official statement released by UMSU admitted that the phrase “It’s Okay To Be White” is not “explicitly racist” (so it’s just implicitly racist, then?), but claims it is intended to “promote a message that is dangerous and triggering”.

UMSU president Jakob Sanderson claims that “It’s Okay To Be White” is “really dog whistling at white supremacy” and that the real message is “universities are going too far to help marginalized students, that we’re over-policing thought, that we’re over-policing expression.” Ironically, he then explained that he was working with campus police to review security camera footage of the posters being put up, and that security services went around campus removing the flyers; i.e. they literally called campus police to remove the expression “It’s Okay To Be White” and made efforts to hunt me down (presumably to exact punishment of some nature).

UMSU also made the astonishing claim that the flyers were “targeted” at aboriginal students, implying that a hate crime had therefore been committed. They claim a flyer was faxed “directly to the University of Manitoba Native Studies Department Office”. Assuming that fax is even real, I did not send it or any other faxes. Flyers were put up across the entire university and no group or individual was specifically targeted. It’s plainly obvious that an attempt is being made to misconstrue the ‘It’s Okay To Be White’ flyers as a hate crime so as to set a legal precedent for pursuing criminal conviction of individuals who speak the words “It’s Okay To Be White” .

U of M president David Barnard, left, claims I am part of an “international effort by neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups”, which is patently false. I am a member of no group or organization, and do not adhere to either the ideology of “neo-Nazism” or of “white supremacy”. The phrase “It’s Okay To Be White” does not in any manner imply relation to either of those ideologies, and these accusations are only being made in an effort to intimidate white individuals on campus so as to prevent them from raising their voices. They want white students to be afraid to even speak the phrase “It’s Okay To Be White”, for them to be afraid of challenging the orthodoxy of the ideological narrative being woven into their minds by the politically correct priests of the ivory towers."
“If it was okay to be white at the University of Manitoba, I wouldn’t have had to wear the mask.”

Maybe it’s bullshit, but even so this is more or less what I figured was behind this event. If the people who did this are in fact neo-Nazis or they also wrote the anti-Islam graffiti then they deserve condemnation, but there is no solid evidence to back up those claims.

One thing is for sure, the guy who wrote that letter is Canadian because he spelled “colour” with a U.

It seems to me that this is all part of some devious scheme, there are powerful people using the old divide and conquer strategy. Look at George Soros, he funds anti-Israel groups in addition to all the other shit he does but if you criticize him it “classic anti-Semitism”. He hides behind the same people he helps to demonize. In eastern Europe people look at Soros like he was the devil in the flesh.

@Jewbacca - What do you think about Soros?

It’s not necessarily George Soros per se, it’s a dog-whistle for Jews, alongside “international elites” and “globalists”.

It’s true that a lot of people there don’t like Jews in general, but even the current right wing government in Poland has a Jewish president (Mateusz Moraviecki). There are some bad Jews out there and Soros is probably one of the worst of the bunch, but the same thing could be said about any race, religion, or nationality.

The “globalists” or whatever you want to call them aren’t exclusively Jewish, although there are a good number of Jews amongst them.

Morawiecki isn’t Jewish, except on the Daily Stormer. He has some Jewish ancestors.

I don’t know. I just figure virtue signaling and moral posturing is more important to some people rather than actually giving a shit about the minorities they are purporting to defend. Aren’t the aboriginals there mostly Christian or similar?

If that letter is true, and there is no association to the graffiti, I’d be the first to defend the guy. Despite what you probably think I call out SJW bullshit all the time in real life because those people give sane liberals and real issues of social justice a bad name. The issue of folks being recreationally offended is very real… On both sides of the spectrum. The right folks tend to troll, and then become offended when their targets act exactly as expected. Leftists make mountains out of molehills and have little sense of what a proportional reaction is.

I’m a big capitalist and in favor of people getting rich, by honest means (or even dumb luck).

But Soros is the icky kind of capitalist – and he is very much a capitalist – who makes a shady deals and a lot of money when government programs and the like are implemented. And he is rich to the point where he can manipulate markets. He’s never really made anything. He’s just made himself rich. Basically, he’s the real boogeyman that the “99%” movement wants to catch.

To insulate himself against pretty legitimate attacks from the left, he supports “liberal” causes (and media especially) to the point where it is somehow “right wing” to point out he’s a fricking crook and a really bad guy.

That’s at least how it started. He’s been faking it so long, he might have become a true believer in his liberal causes; I don’t know.

Regarding those attacking him as being antisemitic: I am sure some are. He’s pretty much a perfect example of an evil Jewish banker. So, he fits the stereotype nicely. But then again, he’s an evil banker. His Jewishness is irrelevant in his actions or criticism of those actions.

And to be clear, he’s not much of a Jew. He’s certainly not religious. He admits to being an apikoros – a mocker of Judaism. He claims Judaism only when being criticized in order to hide behind claims of antisemitism.

Which brings around to the most curious thing – Soros, himself, has made it clear he hates Jewish people, especially religious Jewish people, and especially Israeli Jewish people. Why? I ask.

I suppose it could be because so many Jewish people actually hate him for what he did during WWII – he did not merely conceal his Jewishness – he used his knowledge of Judaism and who-was-Jewish to find fellow Jews and steal their wealth for the Nazis – and made the seed of his fortune in this manner. That’s disgusting.

Anyway, he could hate Jews because so many Jews already hated him for being Nazi collaborator. “Kapo” is the term used for him in Israel. (Kapos were the trustee Jews in concentration camps.)

Or his hatred could be a defensive reflex – to assuage his guilt for getting so many Jewish people killed, he has decided that Jewish people are bad (especially those in Israel), and so he supports our enemies. Kind of a Stockholm Syndrome thing.

Anyway, long way of saying he’s a bad guy. He uses whomever for his purposes. He could have just as easily been a supporter of Trump if that was what would help him for whatever his purposes are. No moral compass whatsoever, except to benefit himself.

I don’t think it is a “dogwhistle” to attack Soros. Attacking him could be antisemitic, sure.

But it is more likely to be perfectly logical and reasonable, in that he’s a really bad guy who does bad things and pretends to great.

To say that I dislike Soros is an understatement, but he was born in August 1930, making him 14 in 1944 when the Germans removed Horthy and placed Szalasi’s Arrow cross party in charge in western parts of Hungary they still controlled.

I concur he didn’t have a choice in hiding. He had a choice in helping.

And it’s not like this is disputed; he details his exploits helping the Nazis in his autobiography. “The most exciting time in his life” “no regrets” were some of his comments.

Why let facts get in the way of an opinion though?

The whole “us vs them” thing is grossly overblown. Most people; of any bent, profession, etc…are just normal decent people that mind their own business. Some people love to engage in baseless hyperbolic bullshit to masturbate their own overwrought emotions. We see it more and more due to the anonymity and relative safety of social media.

As regards police brutality I completely agree; however, there seems to be some wildly subjective ideas/opinions as to what constitutes legit police brutality. Hopefully reasonability will win out. If you assault or violently resist a lawful arrest you get what’s coming. Police fuck up all the time but it’s important to note/discern whether or not it was malicious, purposeful, needlessly “excessive,” etc…

The old "one bad apple…’ adage is not only intellectually lazy but it’s a dangerous mindset. One could apply that bullshit to any group, profession, race, etc… I prefer to judge each individual as an individual and not a member of some collective.

Oh come on. Just go watch the the 60 minutes interview.

It’s here:

The whole thing is interesting re: what a scum bag Soros is, but the specific discussion is at 15:30.

Yes, I did. Here’s the direct version and not from a site that puts equal weight on his alleged Nazi collaboration and the fact that he hung out with Hillary.

Is George Soros a colossal asshole and a scum bag? In my opinion, yes.

But accusing a then 14 year old kid of being a “Nazi collaborator” who denounced fellow Jews and somehow “made a seed of his fortune” by having attended (or lets say even helped) an inventory? That’s feeding antisemitic tropes about a “self inflicted Jewish holocaust”.

In my family I have examples of kids and teenagers who survived under false Christian identities and the stories are extremely fucked up - attending school and giving each morning a Nazi salute or making breakfast for billeted SS officers and laughing at their jokes while your relatives, parents, grandparents are perishing in the camps.

Once again - he’s an asshole but let’s not change the historical facts to fit a political narrative.
