By definition, I don’t think the ‘85 Bears’ defense can qualify as being in the 90’s.

But if we’re going there, then the Steel Curtain of the mid '70’s.

Any Cowboy that won a ring.
great players, but intimidating?
If 3 SB rings aren’t intimidating, I don’t know what is.

Then I agree, you don’t know intimidating.

A little late with the Webster’s - but my reply to you is the same as with the other: They fit the bill. They may not get the Sports Center Seal of Approval, but tell me how they are not intimidating.

The folks I listed were the best at their positions. How in the hell is that not intimidating to the opponent immediately across the ball from them?

You seem to be under the misguided notion that only big and the physical can be intimidating. You are wrong. Just look at Tom Brady. Is there a more intimidating force in football with 2 minutes left?

Think outside the box, kiddos.

Thinking outside the box works if you have knowledge of what is in the box.
You aren’t really serious that a skillful player is automatically intimidating. Do you think that even for a minute?
Does anyone else here agree with you?
Does Tom Brady intimidate? I would say no. Is there a huge list of people that are awed by his skill with two minutes left? HUGE. Are they intimidated? Hell no.
Put it this way. The Patriots run lately is
You are a Cowboy homer that is delusional. This years Cowboy team. They have a better record than the Superbowl Cowboys. Would you classify this team as intimidating?

Here’s the problem. You want to start calling me a homer. I have asked you to simply tell me why my choices are not valid. You can’t. You just say they aren’t. I’m sorry, but just because you say so is not proof that you are right.

You can do better. All you have to do is try.

Now, stay focused Barney. I know you can do better than this.

Erik Williams wasn’t intimidating in the slightest with that stupid, bunny rabbit chin strap he wore.

The scariest players of all were players like Reggie White, whom you knew you couldn’t beat without a flawless performance AND would break you in half for even trying to stop him.

Ok,guys let focus on what intimidating really means…Its not just physical. I would take Charles Haley,Eric Williams,Deion(yeah…i said it),Irvin,Ken Norton Jr.,Larry Allen…and Bill…Bates…lol.

There a million great players from the 90’s that made other great players up their game, but were not necessarily intimidating.

Anyways…Tim Mcdonald…Cortez Kennedy…Michael McCrary(yep)…Levon Kirkland

Vinnie - Nuff said.

Except for that small detail of a certain right tackle named… ohh… Erik Williams who used to knock Reggie White around the field (even as great as Reggie was).

Geez, why did Williams have to get drunk and drive like an idiot? Could have been an all-time great. Ay yi yi. He was one of the angriest men I ever saw play football.

But Kuz… his chinstrap!

Do you remember how dopey he looked in the mid-90’s with the excess strap on his high snaps turned down? It looked like floppy, rabbit ears on his helmet.

I’m failing miserably trying to find a picture of it.

EDIT: No picture of William’s goofy chinstrap, but I did find a neat picture of Mark Stepnoski looking pretty mean.

A few of these guys stumble into the 2000’s, but these would be my selections:

John Lynch
Reggie White
Bruce Smith
Warren Sapp
Ronnie Lott
Ray Lewis
Mike Alstot
LT
Romo
Singletary
Brian Dawkins

I saw John Lynch in an airport. Not an imposing physical specimen but he can hit.

Duly noted on the chinstrap, which I cannot find either. I sort of enjoyed how Williams overwrapped one of his arms and basically used it as a club to the point that it was turned into a penalized move. See, Roy Williams is not the only Cowboy with a rule named after him.
