This statement is especially stupid since not only was Obamcare a conservative plan in the 90’s, but the CBO also agreed. And the CBO is about as bi-partisan as you can get considering one side of that debate really doesn’t believe in science lol.

It was a state plan implemented by a republican governor. No where, and at no time has a conservative introduced government controlled health care at the federal level.
Telling the whole truth is the only truth. Telling two half truths does not make a whole.
Insurance premiums have sky rocketed. Medicare treatments have been slashed. I’m not sure what reality you call your own, but it is certainly not shared by business owners and senior citizens.

Well it was never actually implemented, which is why I used the word PLAN as opposed to “approved leglislation” or whatever. It never gained a lot of ground, but the cornerstone of Obamcare, the individual mandate, was as near and dear to 90’s Republicans as AR-15’s are now.
You are either woefully ignorant or willfully stubborn–I am not quite sure which one yet. BLACK POWER BROTHA!!!

Well my reality doesn’t involve cherry picking some data points that support my theory. I am actually just relying on people who do this for a living instead of the musings of some idiot that has a blog and access to google.
Insurance premiums HAVE BEEN sky rocketing. Are you blaming that on Obamacare? Because that would be pretty stupid.
You seem to be pretty conservative so I can’t for the life of me think why you would be complaining about cuts to Medicare, considering that is one of the most expensive government outlays out there. If not Medicare, then where? You people always seem to be allabout slashing the size of the government until it actually happens.

MA has an individual mandate, Romney signed that into law.
I believe the pre-existing condition thing was repealed though (heard this on the radio, never checked his sources) because people abused it. Paid the fines/taxes and not for insurance, and then would get insurance when they got sick. This proved to be insanely expensive to those of us that don’t act like assholes.

When I display a better command of the facts than you do, I am neither ignorant nor stubborn. I am simply right. Please see The State of Massachusetts healthcare plan introduced and signed into state law by then-governor Mitt Romney. I accept apologies and retractions 24 hours a day.
You keep intermingling the word republican and conservative. Are you woefully ignorant, or in willful denial?
Is e-screaming the color of your skin supposed to move me? Scare me? Or is that just your woeful ignorance spilling over the top?

I would like to introduce you to Belly Flop, we just call him Flop for short, the imbecile you are arguing with.
You know how there is that one person, maybe at work, the gym, or some place, that EVERYONE seems to just “tolerate.” That is where Flop fits in. Just pat him on his head, tell him “there there” and go about your business.

Do what for a living? manufacture false realities for you to buy into? Who’s cherry picking data points? My comments were based on personal experience, or experiences relayed to me by others. I would bore you with the facts, but you have proven you don’t really have much of a liking for the truth, or the facts.
They have been, but the rate at which they have increased over the last 18-24 months is greater than before. My apologies for being so incessant with that pesky little progressive killer called the truth.

I would love nothing more than to see medicare, medicaid, soc sec, welfare, food stamps, and every other form of unconstitutional wealth redistribution eliminated from the budget.
But how quaint of you to be so presumptive as to label and brand me in such a bigoted manner. LMAO at you thinking Barry wants to slash the size of the government. Slashing medicare does nothing to slash the size of government. Quite the opposite. It is a merely a preview of the expanse of government power with respect to decisions formerly left to an individual and his doctor. Never mind the fact that Barry promised over and over again that there would be no cuts to medicare.
But tell me again how a reduction in medicare is slashing the size of government. Perhaps you could include a graph, or inspirational poster to drive the point home.

LOL why do you keep talking about the Massachuesettes plan? Nobody is denying that Romney implemented it there, moron. My original post was referring to the FEDERAL PLAN for the individual mandate that Republicans (who let’s face it ARE the conservative party) embraced in the 90’s. Why is this hard for you to understand?

So Mr. Anonymous T-Nation poster’s personal anecdotes carry >>>> weight than the CBO? LOL This is comical. I’m seriously snorting water out my nose laughing at you over here.

How is that any different from now when the same people cart their sorry asses off to the E.R. whenever they have an emergency and then default on their bills? Do you believe the hospital is eating that cost, or passing it on to paying customers?

You have no idea how happy this post makes me. If even half of the dimwits that post in this subforum actually liked me, or gasp even agreed with me, I’m not sure I could look at myself in the mirror every morning. I don’t know how you guys do it.

One time emergency care, and subsequent default isn’t the same as long term care provided by the now mandated service. Someone breaks a leg, gets the flu or has a heart attack, we are talking about a one time, 30-100k loss. Someone comes down with skin cancer and suddenly gets insurance, you are talking about 400k+ of treatment and meds over years…
The thing with the issue is the morals. Mandating coverage for pre-existing conditions is a tough subject. Because no one wants to see anyone die, or put their family in financial ruin because of failing health. However, it is tough to justify that everyone else has to be mandated to buy into a service, by law, in order to cover the costs for the poor souls that didn’t have insurance before their illness wreaked them…
I didn’t want to see anyone suffer, but is it the government’s place to force people to buy into the pool to cover the costs? Like forced charity.

There is no wondering. It isn’t Charity.
