I'm Scared to Death of TRT

@vonko1988 - how much caber are you taking and have you ever experienced any noticable side effects from it?

Hey gents, my recent T4 scored at 0.95.

1.25 in Dec.

Is that a concern?

I think I mentioned the dosage, 0.125mg 2 times a week. I feel a bit numb emotionally after taking it, but then I get the clomid and feel only its nasty side effects so at least I do not notice the caber. You know it’s like to have a pain in you stomach and somebody hits you hard on the head you do not notice the stomach any more

It seems metformin lowers testosterone.
Even Jay Campbell mentions it and there are few studies:

That’s a pretty pointless study. I could have told them that without spending the money. It’s already well established that Metformin increases SHBG, so pretty obviously the free T is going to drop as SHBG increases - no rocket science there. They put the men on hypocaloric diets and - shock and dismay - their total T dropped as they added fat. Make them fat without giving them Metformin and you will get exactly the same results. What a bunch of asshats. Jay Campbell included BTW.

Still in the end when metformin increases SHBG its not for people like me trying still to increase their T levels without TRT

Well at least I do not have a sleep apnea(test completed), one problem less if I decide to start TRT

Increased SHBG means less free T, not less T. It probably actually gives you higher overall T.

Well by decrease in T levels I meant free T, what is truly meaningful. Maybe if you have low SHBG(I know this is very fucked up) metformin could be awesome.
My SHBG is just perfect - around 30-32 and I do not want to mess it up

Love how the Author of this thread asks a question and this side convo just persists, overlooking the question.

Should I hit this thread report button???

Did you get other thyroid numbers when you got this reading?

LOL. Everything is a fine line. Metformin is made to increase insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetics, everything else is off-label. I am personally opposed to taking anything extra, if you don’t need it definitely do not take it. The whole SHBG thing seems largely overblown. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding regarding SHBG and there are some strong opinions on here that are not backed up by anything.

TSH was mid range.

Do you know where your free T3 is?

Well the issue is I think I need it, but the gains for me will be overpowered by the risk of messing SHBG or anything related to Testosterone.

If it does raise your SHBG, it is likely to be a negligible amount and you should have fat loss and other positives that would likely offset that.

You can’t diagnose low/high anything with 1 lab of thyroid hormones. They fluctuate too much.

T3 is 1.3

My T4 was 1.25 in December.
