Yes. Most people don’t know how to have an actual conversation with another human being, face to face anymore.
Totally agree, imagine todays 12 yr olds with their iphones and facebook accounts, turning up to their first job interview?

It’s not our generation we need to worry about its the next generation. Imagine the president in 30 yrs time who’s been brought up on ‘Come at me Bro’ meme’s?

God help the world.

When did fun and passing time change from playing outside and scuffing your to playing WOW and trolling facebook for hours and hours.

You’d be wrong.
It would affect me little.

I didn’t think it would bother me, but I just noticed my favorite porn site is blacked out.

WTF porn? You’re not real.

Here’s how it would be for some people if the internet went down:

At first I got nothing but white box. I was about to applaud your brilliance then a video started. Not sure how I feel now.

Ironically we are becoming less social despite all the social networking.
I always laugh at the fact that you can have 500 “friends” on facebook. People you may have spoken to once in your life or don’t even like.
nomorewar wrote:
with the current black out of wiki, google, and other sites, it got me wondering… WHAT IF THE WHOLE FUCKING INTERNET WAS BlackED OUT!!! lets say for one week. How will it affect people? thoughts?
I would probably do the same things as i do now.

i go on the internet to read. i can just do it at the library.

porn? there’s always external stashes.

I don’t know about the internet actually being ‘switched off’ for a week, but when Cat n I went to Bermuda last summer, and I couldn’t use my cel phone (I’m online constantly!), it really weirded me out for the first couple of days. She even made a few cracks about how it was probably the longest I’d gone without logging on here in years.

When you are on vacation its completely different. I went to Maui last year and shut off my phone when I got there. There is so much to do on vacation that you hardly think about technology or the internet. When you are at home living your daily life, you have to adjust. Most older people like ourselves would be able to adjust because we use to live in the time when there was no internet.

If the internet went down for a week, we can forget about vacations. Airports/airlines, trains/subway, even gas pumps can all have links via the internet.

Compromising the stability of the internet would be rather detrimental to the US economy.

Seriously, “their iphones and facebooks?”

These gull darn new-fangled techmoknowledgies. Heavens to mergetroid, back in my day, we had two cans, a string, and a strong speaking voice, and we were THANKFUL for that.

Different technology, different society. It won’t be our world when that generation hits running the country age. Our concepts of society will be useless, as informational technology HAS BECOME (not will be, it’s happened already) so prevalent as to be a non-removable section of our infrastructure.

I recall many an hour spent in-doors, busting down the bad guys using the Konami Code in Contra.

Still I can sometimes function in society.

There was a horrible camera accident yesterday, in that I didn’t take it to the gym. Will have by Saturday.

Spending today pirating Sony Vegas, in celebration of the victory over SOPA.

The biggest issue I see involves the original use of the internet- the ability to launch nuclear weapons from numerous sites, rather than there only being one site, just in case this site were to be attacked. If the internet went down altogether, it could potentially leave america very vulnerable.

As far as the general public (younger generation especially), it would have many benefits, after the initial adjustment period. Would get rid of the playstation generation and kids would actually play games outside and with other people.

No more T-Nation though, d’oh

Here’s what it was like before Angry Birds.

I would probably masturbate less often and try to find a girlfriend, how terrifying…

But Token there is a world out there. You could be a stock clerk at Cosco, why spend all that time and money getting a career in IT.
A little late but…

Missed that one, was it pro- or anti-gaming? I’m not against gaming per se, just too much of it, which is what seems to be the norm with kids today (Oh god did i just say “kids today?”)
