Ideology or Power?

Another thing Super-T:

Given what we know about Skousen’s outlandishly radical views (such as accusing Henry Kissinger and Dwight Eisenhower of being Communist agents, claiming that Kissinger committed treason by meeting with China, claiming that the civil rights movement was the work of a widespread Communist conspiracy and arguing that ending slavery unfairly screwed slaveowners), don’t you think that Beck should be subjected to the same intense, constant, unrelenting scrutiny and criticism that he heaped onto Obama (rightfully so) for his connections to Ayers, Wright and so forth?

And if you hold Beck to a high standard (which I assume you do), don’t you think that perhaps it should be YOU who leads the condemnation of Beck’s endorsement (however incomplete this endorsement may be) of Skousen?

straight from the transcript. I can post the whole transcript if you like, and you can see where Beck says nothing of this being his idea. It was all the Rabbi, and he even said it goes back to the Bible.

This may seem like a new story to you, but a new world order is not. The very fist time that this was tried ?¢?? let me bring in Rabbi Lapin. He is the president of the American Alliance for Jews and Christians.

Rabbi, the very first time socialism or communism or new world order was tried was the Tower of Babel, right?

LAPIN: Yes

Here’s the list I was talking about. The first four books are by Skousen. It’s a Utah chapter of the 9/12 project. I had to sign up with the Project to get access to their reading list on the official site and I am awaiting approval. I don’t know why it’s taking so long to be approved for an anonymous, free membership, but when I get cleared, I’ll have more for you. Until then, this should suffice, although I can provide other states’ chapters that have these books on their list as well.

I seem to remember you calling me a liar. I expect an apology, but since I value my life, I won’t hold my breath.

edit: sorry, make that 5 books by Skousen. I missed one further down the list.[/quote]

Here’s a link to the official 9/12 Project, of which I am now a reluctant member. I’m not sure if you will be able to see the titles on this list since I had to sign in to get access to it, but if you can’t, I suggest you sign up to check it out. There are six titles by Skousen on this list, including Beck’s bible, “5000 Year Leap”. The titles “The Real Benjamin Franklin”, “The Real George Washington” and “The Real Thomas Jefferson” are all co-written by Skousen, although he is not the first author listed.

So you demanded the list, and here it is. Where do we go from here?

First of all this a chapter of the 9/12 project. I knoe Beck started this idea, but he is not a leader over it or anything. On the link it says recomended books, but it does not say Beck recomended them. I will say that the real Washington and others that were on there Beck has said to read. I will also say I am half way sorry, because you said Beck had a recomended list, and you still have not produced it, but this was a nice attempt.

Of course, but there is a difference. Obama knew Ayers and went to Wright’s church for 20 years, so I think that connection is a little stronger than Beck to Skousen, don’t you?

No, I don’t at all. There is a major difference between a personal connection and an ideological connection. Despite what many would have you or I believe, Obama does not openly endorse terrorist actions such as Ayers’ and the Weather Underground, nor does he openly endorse the racist, hate-mongering views of Wright. But Beck openly, repeatedly endorses Skousen and whatever condemnation of Skousen’s wildly fanatical views that he provides pales in comparison to the condemnation of Ayers and Wright on the part of Obama.

I think that sitting in a mans church for 20 yrs is a pretty good endorsement. In the mid-1990s, Ayers and Dohrn hosted a meet-and-greet at their house to introduce Obama to their neighbors during his first run for the Illinois Senate. This is not an endorsement, but why would you let people you do not agree with help with your political career.
