I Feel Like I'm Dying After 12 Months of TRT. Something Else Isn't Right

I’m going through the same thing sir. I recently started bupropion at the request of a new doc for clarity, focus, and enhanced memory/mood. My thinking, and this is parallel to yours, is that maybe my body and brain weren’t structured around healthy hormone levels so now that thats fixed other shit is taking a while to catch up, if it ever will.

I tried supping with pregnenolone and DHEA but neither had any affect. I used doses I could gather from cutting edge docs the best I could. My blood levels of both were low normal before supping. I never tested when on the supps though but you’d think it would have done something. I think it was Dr. Rob Komenarik (sp?) that says he puts all of his TRT patients with memory issues onto pregnenolone @100mg a day. I did it for months and felt no change.

Fast forward a year or two of being on TRT and nothing got better so I brought it up with a new PCP and he got me an appt with a psychiatrist to evaluate cognition. And I am now 14 days into the NDRI with no noticeable affects but told it may take 21 days and/or a larger dose to feel any affect.

Curious what dose they started you on?

Will be interested to hear followup on Bupiron. PCP says she won’t give me Adderall or Ritalin but she’d give me Bupiron(Welbutrin) and I said I’d think about it. Reading side effects of some drugs makes me not want to take them, but some people see weight loss and increased libido on Welbutrin so I’d be down for that. Don’t really care about the weight loss, but the depression I’ve had for 20 years would be cool to fix, and libido increase.

Started on 150mg a day. As I understand, everyone starts at this dose and titrates up from there. Speaking to doc next week to see what he wants to do. He thought I would end up at 300mg a day. I guess it goes as high as 450mg.

Bupropion is metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme CYP2B6.
So, depending on your genetics, maybe never.

brain chemistry…yeah I get it. But hey, if I get constipated but can retain what I am reading again I will be happy. I mean the number one side effect for adderall is heart disease :face_with_hand_over_mouth: and for Ritalin the list is like 40 things :exploding_head:

Nope. Not ever.

Well that’s not a warm fuzzy is it? ha. How would I know, it just doesn’t work?

I bet you’ll know in 21 days. Or you could get the shrink to prescribe pharmagenomic testing through somewhere like GeneSight. That will tell you pretty quick what will and will not work for you.

Or once the does is upped…or upped again. So lets say by Christmas. :man_shrugging:

LOL…this is through insurance :face_vomiting:

Yeah, apparently insurance usually cover it. They have special rates you can apply for if it doesn’t, but I’m told that they usually do.

So Im assuming the pharmagenomic testing will tell me what will work on me based on my genome?

They gave me a comprehensive list of drugs in three categories that are affected by my particular genome. And it even says why, breaking down my metabolism of each category.

I guess that way they aren’t lab ratting you and have a profile to work off of going forward. This actually sounds amazing.

The insurance usually goes for it because it save them a lot of money in failed protocols.

I’ve gotten some dark pigmented patches on my groin I’ve never seen before in my life after starting TRT. Women usually get that during hormone fluctuations…hormones are fucked now I can’t ever shave my pubes because I look like a lepur. That’ll help self confidence being a virgin at 33 with small balls and pigmentation patches. I’m about to just start doing a gram of test a week and eat viagra like candy because if death is inevitable may as well get swole and laid first.

Am on trt for almost 3 years now. 140 a week divided in 2 injects.
I do not take dhea or preg.

My thinking is sharp and I can handle multiple tasks at once.
Once in a blue moon I may forget something but that’s it.

I also take a beta blocker and ARB.
I take daily cialis.

And I was horny before trt and still am.

Btw @NH_Watts
Wife increased after a week to 300. 150 x 2.

Told dr she felt a crash in afternoon so he said take 2 now. Remember she is taking 150 SR.
It appears she lost a few pounds. Thank God.
Seems to have more energy.

Clinically I read 6 or 8 week therapy last a year ?? Maybe depends on condition.

She is not more horny unfortunately.
She still here headaches. Am hoping it’s not the medication making them worse

Well glad to know because I’m on 140mg a week and am prescribed 5mg daily cialis but don’t take it because #1 I have no opportunity to get laid and #2 it’s expensive as fuck.

If I still feel tired and like shit most times I’d laugh if it’s something as simple as hypothyroidism or an adrenal issue.

I may have sub-clinical hypothyroid with 4.23 TSH and all women in my family having it but endo said it’s not elevated enough to treat.

What does bi-weekly injection trough you at? I did 70mg every 3.5 days and troughed at 737ng/dL.

What kind of crash? Mood? Does she take both in the morning or morning and afternoon?

" jerking off 3-5 times a day, just like I’d buy tons of scratch tickets, or drink to excess, or play games for 15 hours"
For how many years have you had this behavior? When did you stop doing these things?
