I Ate a Muffin...

What would I consider a good balance? Equal parts pizza, hamburgers, and ice cream washed down with enough caffeinated beverages to kill a horse. Oh and maybe some fish oil or something, you know for your heart and stuff.

Hi Mr OP,

You post reminds me of a time I was at a 3 day work conference. On the first day for the morning break they provided us with a unlimited platter of blueberry muffins. When they arrived on the table I looked at them, and my heart sank. How could I eat such thing?!

My stomach was rumbling and I had not eaten since 7 in the morning, so I took the plunge and ate a blueberry muffin.

For the next hour or 2 my world was turned upside down. First came the instant gratification of sweet blueberry and soft muffin between my teeth. 5 seconds later came the strange aftertaste of lots of sugar in the mouth. 10 seconds later came the strange uncomfortable rumble in the stomach. About 2 minutes later came the sugar rush, followed by the crash, including the headache and the feeling of dissapointment as I realise my hunger needs have not been met. Why me??!!!

So the next day I came prepared. I brough along some whey in a blenda-bottle and some ice water in a flask. When morning break came around I left the premises and headed to the boot of my car where I prepared my whey shake and followed through with my protein infusion. On returning to the premises all of the people eating blueberry muffins were giving me strange looks. I pity the fool.

Moral of the story: always have some whey and ice cold water in the boot of your car.

There’s no such thing as a sugar rush.

11:00 Wake up and drink coffee till my eyes twitch and chain smoke till my lungs feel like I’m drowning.

11:06 Let the dog out. She farts pretty badly before she has to go #2.

12:30 Break out the astroglide and get down to business.

12:33 Wash up, cuz lube gets sticky if you don’t.

12:35 Panic Attack!

2:30 Burgers or chicken breast sammiches. Not too glamorous, but at least my hands aren’t sticky anymore.

3:00 More coffee and I’m getting kinda tired of watching the Teutles fight over how to build a motorcycle and who was later. It’s on film! Review the tape for christs sake!

4:00 Leave for school.

4:45 Get there and start to wonder if I left a burner on from cooking.

7:30 Half way through my to go thermos of coffee and running out of smokes. The welding lab is a hundred degrees and the test plates are glowing red, so I take five and check out the pretty girl in our class and talk to her for a while. Damn! she is cute.

9:00 Clean up and go home.

9:45 Finnish off the coffee left in the pot and chill out.

10:00 Foam rolling, some band stuff for my shoulders and a great deal of regret for having blasted my thumb with a hammer last week. I figured by the way it was stuck sideways that it was broken, but it popped right back into place. Still doesn’t work, but the swelling has gone down. They don’t make foam rollers for thumbs. Too bad.

Pizza and italian hoagies are on the way.

10:30 Eat, kiss the wife goodnight, and watch comedy central until I fade away. That dude with a van is pretty funny. The cast has a lot of talent.

11:00 Wake up and punch the cat. My allergies are horrendous and she ain’t helping…

How has no one murdered you yet…

I know the “sugar rush” is a myth. But I suggest you eat a large blueberry muffin and then come back to me and report to me what happens.

Nothing happens after you eat a blueberry muffin.

Why are you talking about eating a blueberry muffin like I was a kid saying he could drink a bottle of vodka in 2 minutes or that the ghost chili isn’t going to be spicy enough for me?

I’ve probably eaten more blueberry muffins than you’ve had hot meals.

The Nocebo Reaction.
Meaning I take this placebo(sugar) and this nocebo reaction(sugar rush) happens as a result.

There are a lot of nocebo reactions to perfectly harmless foods these days.

Nocebo reaction?
Im not sure what that means. I just know I dont feel too good after I eat a whole blueberry muffin.

And Nards, you can keep your blueberry muffins and can have mine aswell.

When you take a placebo and you have a positive reaction.<–Sometimes called the “placebo effect”
I take the sugar pill and my “whatever” goes away.

The nocebo is the negative reaction to the placebo.
I take the sugar pill and I experience these side effects.

Meaning they are both harmless sugar pills and it is all in your head.
Which isn’t to say you are not having a negative reaction but it is all in you head.

No need to rip on OP in my opinion, I know what he means with the satisfying. I use the same approach, as I’m cleaning up my diet as well.

So the other day when I went out shopping and I got the Knoppers/Snickers/White Choc/Coconut-cravings, I bought just a lot more ground beef (20%) and lots of horseradish and salsa, imagining the nice spicy, hearty taste instead of the sweet one.

Wtf, Dre?!

A serious and mature post from you, is…I don’t know… wierd.

Is everything ok?

If so, then please don’t make this a habit, ok?

When you are cleaning up your diet does that mean no carbs?
Sometimes the body tells us to eat sweets because it wants carbs, so maybe carby veggies or some fruit would ease the cravings better.

Ah muffins…time to be extra nice with my colleague so she cooks me some…

They are so delicious. I’m not a fan of chocolate or this kind of things in general, but those muffins are godly…

The worst is when Count Rockula gets serious…it’s so weird not to read “ass” “rapeaxe” and “bloody rectum” in his posts that I get quite confused and can’t read it properly.

I took my egg, sliced it and threw it into a bowl of mayo, then I put my mainly ‘mayo’/egg combo between two thick slices of crusty white bread, which was layered thick with cheese, cured meats from various animals, pickle, salsa, tomato, onion, crispy lettuce & some salt/pepper mix for some seasoning. On my first bite i LITERALLY went “MHMMM” - it was delicious to me- now THAT’s satisfying.[/quote]

^now THAT sounds satisfying!

I wish I loved eggs like you do…

Ate a muffin last night. Tasty…

It was a mocha flavored muffin.

Sweet, delectable. Hints of cinnamon.

An aphrodisiac for sure.
