It does irritate me, because I have heard that a few times from older Conservatives…“Give it time, you’ll be just like me”.
Maybe that happens to some kids who are liberal when they are young because…hell I don’t know. Because its the cool thing to do, or they are liberal because their parents were.
I don’t like speculating on my future, but I just seriously doubt that I will end up a Conservative in my old age. And yea, I despise it when people attribute my political beliefs to youth, inexperience, or lack of education. It is possible to be older, educated, and experienced and still be a liberal or socialist. [/quote]
Irish, I used to hang with a bunch of old timers when i was young. They are all dead now ,they’d all be over 100.some fought against Pancho villa and in WW1 &WW2.They all thought the Govt. was corrupt and read between the lines on everything they tell you.
They would be glad to see there are still people of your age group like you, that doesn’t believe all the BS washington puts out. These old dudes didnt cuss much, but would fight when the need was there.
From your different posts i have read, you’d fit right in with them, and they’d welcome you to knock back a few brews with them.they’d look at a lot of the others and think what a bunch of idiots the bought the BS hookline and sinker. These guys had the spirit till the day they died.

Whn the condervatives in my family start blathering on about god-knows-what, I excuse myself and go enjoy some time with my nieces while they’re still young.
Or, you could start a fight and spray bad feelings all over the room.
This from the guy who shit all over sjo’s thread about good things happening in Afghanistan.
No kidding. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

one time it was over a year when they responded to a fire they had to fight and they had been drinkin to much at the house, and one of fell and got hurt.

I don’t believe for 1 minute that a group of on duty firefighters were in the house drinking, then responded to a call. Not for 1 F’n minute

It happened all the time, when they went to test the fire hydrants they’d hit the bars along the way.Did that for years.

I vote this the most simple-minded generalized statement on this thread. The 20-something, word misspelling, misguided liberals are coming out in full force here. You are implicating your own kind with ridiculous mispelled posts like this one. Please try to sound more intelligent and we will try to take you more seriously.

I have a REAL hard time believing that on duty firemen were drinking. I have a harder time believing they were stopping at bars while flushing hydrants. I certainly wouldn’t want to have a RIT team full of drunks outside when the roof comes down. That’s fucked up.
You should update your resume and get on a real fucking department.
Just smack em’ with the root of their views. Which is illogical justification of their own cowardice.
It will always boil down to that. Push the point hard enough they always seem to impale themselves on it.
I was at the Fort Jackson PX the other day, and saw the young fresh warrior faces of some of the finest men and women on the planet. Those young recruits, know exactly whats up. They enlisted during a war that rages for freedom, and will almost certainly see the inside of a combat zone before their tour is up. Oh, and just so you dont think I am a hippocrit, I enlisted the day the ground war kicked off in 91’.
Freedom is always worth fighting for, even if it for someone else you may never come to know.
Debate cliff notes:
*I recommend taking Spike as a pre-requsite
establish that freedom is worth dying for.
establish that enemies of freedom are worth killing.
ask if Saddam Hussein’s regime was an enemy of freedom.
if yes, point back to 1 & 2; if no slap em’ in the head with facts, then skip back to point 3.
ask them what they have ever done to protect the freedoms they enjoy, or liberate others from oppression (best asked from an established position of a defender of freedom, if you dont fit into this category… well ask yourself the aforementioned question)
when they wallow around tripping on their own words, spring the truth on them. The failure to act in the defense of freedom of others is nothing more than cowardice that dwells deep within their souls, and drives their opinions.
keep repeating step 6, and hold them to it. As they will attempt to be verbal Houdini’s, and depart from the topic of their own fears and insecurities quickly. Expect them to bring up topics such as WMD’s, Haliburton, oil, etc, as an attempt to focus on something other than their cowardice (which is in itself and act of cowardice, and feel free to point that out). Expect that they will get hurt feelings and retreat from the room, or possibly the house. Either way. you win.
If guns kill people, spoons make Michael Moore fat.
Freedom Matters.
Choose a classic, buy yourself a T shirt and wear it for the special occasion, or even better buy them some clothing or mugs and give them as gifts :)))
Guaranteed to piss off Liberals, and have fun doing it! Let us know how it goes!

Awesome post, Celticwolf. Awesome.
Careful with this though, it can backfire on you if those pesky liberals switch to bashing religion… given that the typical conservative is also a religious one. “Illogical justification of cowardice”… damn, that’s got a nice ring to it. If I borrow it in a post somewhere, I’ll give you credit, don’t worry.

You know who he means. And it’s true. It would be a waste to pull out of Iraq at this point and not finish the job. If you started to build a house and quit in the middle and the house was never used, would the materials that were used up until that point not have been wasted? And I’m a former “troop” so don’t tell me that I’m wrong on this, I know what it would mean to me.
As a moderate liberal, I give you guys credit…reading these suggestions has pissed me off. Rockscar, I think that I speak for all those who lean left in verifying that these discussion points will enrage liberals…strong work, guys.

The fact is it’s not difficult to enrage a liberal - It never ceases to be entertaining though.
You liberal girliemen tend to be very sensitive creatures
