Nothing wrong with going it alone, but know that it is frustrating to watch larger companies with resources accomplish things you can only dream about.
Learn as much as you can with every attempt and try to hold onto more of the value (not miserly, but rightly due to more skills and resources) each time as you get more knowledgeable.
