I work at a steel factory. There is alot of expensive equipment and it’s a large warehouse. I don’t have the money to start a business like that. If I did I wouldn’t be working there.

I actually do the work, my boss would appear to have never done any physical labor in his life. He’s already run 2 businesses into the ground and declared bankrupt himself once before. I’m the one doing the work, so i’ve told him ways that would be easier and quicker to do things but he doesn’t listen. I’m also not trying to tell the boss about how much work i’m supposed to be doing, i’m simply irratated by the fact that I am expected to do more than others simply because I can. If they can’t do the labor I can why do they make more money, why can’t others help?
Really man, Sounds like the same sob stories I’ve heard a thousand times, “I work harder, I’m worth more”, and “the boss/owner is a lazy dumb ass” in one form or another.
I’m telling you from 20 years of experience in heavy industry, you will not succeed with this type of thinking. Pay attention to your own work.
Cutting trees I used to catch flack from new guys for always doing the “easy stuff”. Simple solution was to take them by my side and have them do what I was doing. Once they were thoroughly exhausted, I would look at them and laugh, then make fun of them by saying “Had enough of this easy job?”.
Or if they thought that climbing was the cake work, cuz it looks so easy, I would have them strap on the gaffs, harness up, and climb. They never made it past the trunk before their legs turned to jelly from strain and fear. (mostly fear)
Point being, everybody thinks that what they are doing is harder when they don’t have the experience of their seniors. It takes a lot of time and effort to make something look easy.
If you show some respect and perseverance, you might last long enough to laugh at some new guy that thinks he is working harder than everybody else, knows everything, and thinks you are a dumb ass.
Keep in mind that MANY people, who are probably harder workers than you, me, or most others, are unemployed right now and are REALLY suffering. So my advice is, have a little perspective and quite crying about it.

Thanks for the input. Sure I can do the work but then they just pile more on me, it seems endless, and for only $10.50. Just getting sick of being taken advantage of, and the only way to get a raise is if you kiss ass to the boss. He already dislikes me because I question some of his procedures, so I don’t see a raise coming no matter how hard I work.
Do you know how you like to work?
Do you like to be independent at the work placing doing things as you see they work best?
Would you be willing to look for a company that let’s you do this?
Do you know where you can find this kind of company?
If you found this company would you be willing to take a raise?
Would you be willing to take a job that is activity based (you are not sitting on your ass), but not necessarily heavy labor?
