How Much Does Glutamine Help?

I have neither the time or inclination to peruse the internet for studies and doctors who believe in glutamine supplementation. I’m quite certain I can match anything you can find with a google search. Good day.
lol

Extra glutamine will do no more for you than an extra dose of any other amino acid.

Do you like that better?
Well, when you put it that way, did you know that there are apparent effects caused by taking some amino acids on their own?

Anyway, I think you are missing the idea that people aren’t just talking about muscle gains.

But since I know I’m right…

Do you really believe that the world only exists inside the power rack?

At least qualify your statement.

Try this…“Glutamine is totally worthless as a performance enhancing supplement.” We all agree. No debate there.

Extra glutamine will do no more for you than an extra dose of any other amino acid.

Yeah. Not like BCAAs aren’t beneficial. Riight…

How about picking up some glutamine, trying it, and seeing if you like it. If it doesn’t seem to have any effect, then ditch it.

And for those of you that say “not all supplements you can feel”, if you don’t notice at least some difference with a supplement, you probably don’t need it.

Greens plus doesn’t help me to lift anvils overhead by the horn, and it doesn’t help me to leap tall buildings either. But it DOES turn my sht green. Thats how I know its working.

And as far as multi vitamins and fish oil goes, take them for a month, and then quit taking them. Feel worse for the wear? then you know they are working.

Maybe I have bad opinions, but unless I notice an effect, I assume a supplement is junk.

Overall----

pretty bad advice.

But, asparagus does make my pee stink so it must be working.

No, I get it. Extra doses of glutamine are worthless for muscle building, enhancing the immune system of a healthy individual and just about anything else that you can think of.

Oh wait, I think I’m wrong on the glutamine is worthless argument. It has great financial enhancing powers for those who sell it.

Remember Vanadal Sulfate? Enought said.

Well, tell you what, why don’t you explain why the journal article I posted earlier wouldn’t be interesting to anyone… ?

He just doesn’t get it. No sense arguing.

It is interesting. And there will always be conflicting reports. There were also reports that Vanadal Sulfate worked wonders. Some reports that is.

No, YOU don’t get it! Now show me the data where it has been conclusively proven that glutamine does what the manufacturers say.

Nothing can be conclusively proven true.

My studies that show it works would be as useful to you as your studies of uselessness are to me. Give it a rest

It was really cheap at Vitamin Shoppe and I put it in my PWO. Dont know if it benefits me but its cheap enough now to not really worry about it.

The conclusion for this study was ridiculously inappropriate. If you threw college aged guys on half a gram of test for 6 weeks you probably wouldn’t see a statistically significant difference. It really shows nothing about anything, other than people get a little stronger after 6 weeks.

Um, okay. Pretty much nothing taken orally directly before lifting will do anything significant. The conclusion was appropriate, though. I’m not sure why you posted this abstract really.

Um. Again, this isn’t really appropriate to resistance training individuals over the long term. This study basically says “More food without a stimulus won’t make you build more muscle.” Useful for sedentary patients who may be experiencing muscle wasting, but not for us.

I don’t really know enough about immunity to comment on the rest.

Okay, that’s it.

I am now telling you for the last time to stop using glutamine.

Got it?

Don’t make me raise my voice.

Your entire universe revolves around the gym, and everybody agrees glutamine does not help there.

Listen to yourself…“Hey you! Are you dying of cancer? Does your oncologist tell you to take glutamine? DON’T DO IT. Glutamine is TOTALLY worthless.”

Do you get it now?

No? Here are some more for you…

Water does absolutely nothing for building muscle, SO STOP DRINKING WATER. IT’S TOTALLY WORTHLESS!

Motor oil does absolutely nothing for building muscle, SO STOP BUYING MOTOR OIL. IT’S TOTALLY WORTHLESS!

Does anybody else get it?

I’ve found that when I am in a high rep cycle, 15-20g/day helps boost my recovery and decrease DOMS, which I get really bad with higher reps or while dieting.

I generally don’t take it while bulking, except what is included in Surge.

By the way, n=1.
