I’ve read of a lot of people drinking Green Tea on this forum, but nobody says why. Does it do something for you bodybuilding-wise, or do people just like the taste? I like iced tea, but I wouldn’t drink it without sugar, so I just drink water. Same thing with Coffee. Do people drink it to speed up the heart or something for fat loss?

I drink black coffee because I love me some me, as well as the following reasons:

  1. I love the taste of high quality black coffee
  2. I get headaches if I don’t have my fix
  3. I get a severe case of Evil when I don’t have my fix
  4. I don’t really like to sleep and caffine helps me avoid sleep.

If you’re talking 6oz = 1tbsp of ground coffee, i average 6 - 8 cups daily. Keep in mind, i drink 12oz at a time…so usually i have 3-4 cups a day.

Haha whats funny is you aren’t even using enough coffee. try making it with 2 tbsp per 6 oz, thats the proper proportion. Coffee is a hell of a drug and im around it way too much(i work at starbucks).

o yea the “good stuff” is 2tbsp per 6oz but the mass commmerical foldgers recommend 1tbsp cuz i think their beans, although lower in quality, have more caffeine

Lol in my line of work thats sacreligious =P. Yeah as long as you enjoy the cheap stuff why bother paying $10 a lb for starbucks coffee? But if someone is interested in how to do it right, i’d be happy to talk about the best way to make it.

I have this brand called Archers Farm which is pretty good. I plan on getting Dunkin Donuts. These are treats. I cant afford it daily so i use the FOldgers

I really like it in the morning, with splenda and cream.

People who drink black coffee hate themselves.[/quote]

this is true I sooooo hate myself.

thats why I fill my 32oz gatorade bottle up with cold, black, sticky thick coffee and slam it before I get ready to go and then I drink another one on the way out to the gym.

wow I just realised thats half a gallon of coffee.

green tea has half the caffine as coffee does and also is full of anti-oxidants

I also drink about half gallon of that when I am not working out that day

Bro if you think Starbucks is quality coffee you have alot to learn. Starbucks is average at best. And that’s being kind.

What are some quality coffees I should try?

Coffee junkie here.

Once you start grinding and french pressing your own coffee, you can never go back.

I used to drink about 12 cups per day or more for the better part of 12 years. I’ve since curtailed that just because it started to bother my stomach a bit.

However, I have a strong stimulant tolerance. HOT-ROX plus Spike Shooter or other energy drink plus a cup of coffee plus tea plus Yohimbine throughout the day. I could probably kill small mammals with my stimulant intake…

I buy local roasts and grind them. Favorite flavors? Ethiopian Yergachev (sp), Costa Rican, Kona (pricey), various dark roasts… good stuff.

I agree that Starbucks is average, but consistent. I’d rather buy their beans and grind my own. I think starbucks dark roast is some of the nastiest crud on the planet.

To be clear, Dunkin Donuts coffee is not coffee (IMVHO). It is some kind of horse piss concoction.

Every weekday morning I get a Tim hortons double-double. It’s a staple of every working canadian’s diet.

(Large coffee with 2 cream and 2 sugar)

confusedjake has it right on the money.

I had almost 3 years in the trenches at The Buck in Santa Monica California. The coffee to water ratio was intense but now I can not drink coffee any other way.

I average about 1 pot per day. Unlike many friends I do not have any noticible withdraw symptoms should I not get my daily does of the black stuff.

It is about the only thing other than water I drink. That and wine.

Espresso shows me that the Italians, before anything else, were artists of the highest order.

And take it black, too.

With good beans, and an adjustable grinder, you can brew it strong and dark without it tasting bitter.

I shattered my french press a few weeks ago. It’s been hard.

I’m probably going to piss a LOT of people off here, but I think coffee is the most rediculous, pointless, and stupid fucking thing to ever happen to people. Learn to wake the hell up without dumping shitty tasting teeth-staining fluids into your body. Maybe people just lack discipline, but as far as I’m concerned your mood and how you feel when you wake up is dictated by your mental composure.

Absolutely.

Black, strong, and first thing in the morning, like my wo… ah, nevermind

Some people don’t use it to wake up. I like it because it tastes good and is a widely available psychoactive substance. It is a recreational drug. My name is Vicomte, and I have a problem.

This is one of the reasons why I quit. I knew my system was just overstiumlated and jacked up from all the caffeine. I needed to be able to manufacture my own energy when getting out of bed in the morning and working out. I think Lee Haney used to say something like, “You can’t beat a whopped horse.”

I have noticed a definitely improvement in the quality of my sleep since I stopped drinking it and I wake up with more energy than I used to. It’s also enabled me to establish a consistent sleep pattern, which has been key. I’m actually tired at the end of the night now and it never takes me more than 5-10 minutes to fall asleep, where I used to suffer from insomnia. Granted, it took a good month after I quit before I was able to get to this point, but it’s been worth it.

People blow the whole -I am not the same without my morning coffee thing- WAY out of proportion.

Just like people who think they are overtrained.

SSC - Bro, with your hot black avatar how could you not like the toasty adult beverage? I know my boy Apollo takes his - Hot, Hotter, Hotest with a little Craig T Nelson on the side!

I gave up drinking anything with caffeine about 3 months ago, for the first week I had crazy headaches from 8am until noon. But after my body got use to no caffeine I was back to normal and overall I started to feel better and have more energy over the day. Another upside is I am sleeping much better then I had been for years.

Action Jackson is the greatest movie ever.

I love coffee! I drink 6 cups (2 cups fit inside one of my coffee mugs so after three cups I finish the 6 cups of coffee that were made) or so… but I usually try to have a week or so every month where I don’t touch it… It’s not a bad week at all and my workouts even improve since I just use Spike… and when I reintroduce the coffee it always tastes better than before.

I don’t know man, not for me. I put coffee and cigarettes on the exact same level.
