I’ve been using the layering system for a few weeks now, and I’m really sold on the idea of working up to a heavy single close to 1RM to activate the central nervous system. I feel my subsequent work sets to be much more explosive, and just feel more “on” overall. It also gets me focused on the workout on days that I’m not really “feeling it.”
My question is: How long can I benefit from the elevated CNS activation? If I split my routine into 2 workouts a day (same movement/body part), let’s say 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, does the benefit from the first workout carry over to the second, or do I need to start over?

From experience you will have an increased activation for at least 6 hours, sometimes up to 12. So if you do a second session you wont need a full activation, maybe just a few jumps to kick start the nervous system
Thanks coach! I’ll experiment with a few plyo jumps or clap pushups before my second workout’s work sets and see how that feels.
