What OTC supps are you guys using & at what doses? What do you think about adding Phosphatidylserine into the mix?[/quote]
I have a belief that is generally against the recommended standards for AF. Cortisol lowering supplements should not be taken at times of the day with below normal cortisol. That’s why I believe even recommending vitamin C 4x a day is wrong. You have to get the test done, and then go from there.
unfortunately you WILL be depressed as soon as you try to discontinue the cymbalta. Also trust me on this what once took your anxiety away will soon make it much much worse. Cymbalta i once thaought was a miracle 2 years later it has destroyed my life. its the Klonipin that is taking care of your anxiety 100% ; cymbalta is the devil my friend and i feel for you, myself, and anyone else that the damn doctors hand this shit to like candy.
i am not against anti depressants per se, i have used them with success in the past. The newer SNRI’s like cymbalta and effexor and now pristiq are true evil though. Doctors prescribe them because they are still on patent thus pushed by the reps thus kick backs for the doctors. Ask your doctor about coming off cymbalta and he will say something like just go down to 30 then 30 every other day then quit…no big deal. WRONG! You will truly know what hell feels like when you try to stop this shit. i stopped prozac cold turkey several times no problem, this shit is different and they have NO IDEA how to get people off of it. Your being treated with Buspar and Klonipin no wonder your anxiety is under control…the cymbalta isn’t doing shit except setting you up for disaster.
Sorry to sound so extreme but any of the old members on here can attest to the fact that i don’t talk shit just to do it. It is bad enough that this shit is being prescribed to those of us with treatment resistant depression, i can’t believe they actually will prescribe it as a long term anti-anxiety when in reality it will make anxiety much, much worse over the long term.

Didn’t need to bump this haha.
I did quit the Cymbalta, and it left me entirely anxiety-free. It’s been about 8 months since I quit, and I don’t have generalized anxiety anymore. So I don’t agree that it is evil. One thing to remember is that regardless of whether anti-anxiety medications are actually doing physical healing or not, they allow you get a feel for what it is like to be calm. After a couple months of being calm, it becomes normal, and your thought processes are no longer negative. At that point, quitting the medication is a good idea.
The fatigue didn’t go away. I still struggle with it, but I have found dopamine enhancing substances to be quite effective. Deprynl, L-Tyrosine, caffeine, and not whacking off have helped tremendously.
Actually, I’m embarrassed that I ever even posted this thread. Nowadays, I suspect adrenal fatigue is not a real condition. I do think it is possible to have low cortisol, and that cortisol treatment can improve symptoms, but it has nothing to do with your adrenals being fatigued. My new theory is that it is dopamine-correlated depression. That is why SSRIs did not work in my case. It’s also why it was so hard to realize I was depressed. Normally we think sad/suicidal when we hear the word depression. I now believe there are different causes of depression, and symptoms of fatigue, lack of motivation, and social anxiety are caused by suboptimal dopamine levels or receptivity.
Sublingual New Zealand bovine adrenal extract worked very well for me. I had significant improvements daily in energy levels, morning appetite and a reduction in “bags” under my eyes. Cutting out caffeine probably helped as well.
Could you tell me what Q10 is please?

In the States it is widely known as CoQ10, short for co-enzyme Q10. You might know it as “ubiquinone”. It is part of the benzoquinone family. If you are not familiar with any of these terms just do a quick google/wiki or similar.

The way I cured my excessive daytime fatigue was to try the high dose Q10 protocol suggested to me by one of my lecturers. Worked very well at reversing the damage to my mitochondria (well, that’s the propsed mechanism of action, but who really knows).
After a couple of years, the fatigue started to creep back in so I started anothe r high dose Q10 protocol and lo and behold, my energy levels went up and my waste size and subQ fat went down.
At least 300mg for 3 months is the protocol BTW.

BBB,
Wasn’t there a specific type of Co-Q10 to use ? A more “bioavailable” kind ? Sorry if i’m not getting this right.
I remember reading that if you have a disproportionately high amount of body fat in the stomach compared to everywhere else (from caliper readings), it means your cortisol levels are out of whack.
So would high-dose Vit C and CoQ10 be good supplements to check out…it certainly seems to have a positive affect on adipose tissue, especially from BBB…
Thanks for this thread and all the input guys. It was the T-Nation that turned me on to the concept of adrenal fatigue back in like 2007, 2008 after the death of my mom.
Mediicine may not recognize AF and it may be more of a hodgepodge of sympostoms it just seems intuitive to me if you are under stress too long and use a lot of stimulants (I don’t use pre workout but I LOVE coffee).
I have had several anxiety/depression struggles over the years and can generally get past it with a combination of paxil and buspar. They work but make me sleep all the time, weigh about 10 pounds more, and generally apathetic.
I’m not currently on anything but had a rough 6 weeks or so with my business, plus 2 out of town trips which always get me off diet and out of routine. Never really recovered from last powerlifting meet (May 21) where I set 2 PRs but tweeked a muscle in my upper back n neck. It’s been an especially hot summer and my energy levels and recovery are just not there.
I see this is an older thread, has the thinking changed on AF and it’s treatments?
The klonopin has like a forty hour half life right so even if you take it at night that shits still kicking in the next 2 days, my girlfriend has terrible anxiety, and she had all the things you experienced when she started klonopin, she was tired all day, couldn’t awake, slept 12 or 16 hours day, Gained weight even when she was barely eating, as soon as she stopped taking it boom done
Funny about the salt, Poliquin had a guy write about lime juice and salt for exactly this issue, and people came out of the woodwork to call him a hack.
Oh I love clonazapem, but have to us e sparingky… Will look into the lime juice n salt. Turns out my blood sugar is high. Doc put me on metformin. Gernerally feel crappy but the crapiness has leveled off.
Is it any worse than coming off a TCA?
