How Has Covid Affected You?

Not too far off. My people did a lot of the work on the Enigma machine!

I hope it is too.

I try to keep things on the bright side, develop an informed opinion, and not get resentful, but a couple of people have said a few things, clearly and directly, which will change the way things are between us.

Even giving the benefit of doubt and consideration for their own hardships, hearing someone say a bunch of stuff directly to you about not caring whether you live or die changes things.

I don’t think it makes you stupid to wear a mask. I just don’t think it makes you stupid not to wear one either.

Perhaps you’re right, but you can’t be sure. That’s the mind-fuck of a new pandemic. We all figure things out as we go.

Hopefully this one doesn’t have any wild twists and it just peters out from here.

Thats the thing. Everyone wants the same end goal: Virus stamped down and economy firing on all cylinders.

Some are doing everything they personally can to get there, while others choose to not do everything they can because they think the impact is insignificant. All i can control is myself (and my dog) so i am choosing to do all the little things i can to stamp the virus down, even if some of those actions prove to be insignificant with the benefit of hindsight. .

I have an addendum to this:

Restricting breathing can induce panic and trauma Extremely Quickly. No matter how much of a bad ass, no matter who one thinks they are, some people will have a very bad reaction to this.

Charles Bronson was one of them through the paternal line.

Lipka Tatars sounds like something I’d eat with cabbage and onions.

Pretty much guarantee I’m ruining the pronunciation, but I’ve been really hungry lately.

Kinda puts things in perspective.

My question to you is:

How long do we wear masks for? Until the virus is “under control?” 5 years from now? 10 years from now? When is it “safe” to discontinue wearing a mask?

I’ll need to ask my uncle about this. My mom’s side of the family looks stock photo Polish and my sister’s DNA test seems to have confirmed this. My cousin’s mom and mine are sisters, but his father is also 100 percent Polish.

My cousin and I could have passed for identical twins as children, but his father and sister have the same eyes you see in those Tartars.

Bronson eyes.

I’m going to stop wearing a mask in stores 2 weeks after the stay at home order in my area is lifted. In my state, that order ends may 30th, so I’ll stop wearing a mask in stores mid June. And if there is an increase in infection rates down the road in the fall, I’ll put it back on till rates decrease.

The goal here is to get infection rates low enough that enough people go back to business as usual that the economy goes back to normal. If 10% of the population is still sitting on the sidelines that’s a huge hit to the economy. Telling them to harden the fuck up isn’t going to work. Infection rates need to be low enough that even the timid feel safe enough to go on cruises, eat in a packed restaurant, and fly the family to grandma’s for Xmas.

So, waiting for the end of time then.

Touche haha. I’m sure you get the point though.

How safe were cruises before all of this?

Americans should probably eat out less.

Listening to 2 guys on a fantasy baseball podcast.

One guy is in Palo Alto area -single digit cases, plenty of “room” at Stanford Hospital, he’s not allowed to go on the hiking trails there. The other guy is in Wisconsin, where apparently the Supreme Court deemed the Governor’s stay home etc. order(s) unconstitutional; pictures soon appear of college town type bars, packed, nary a mask in sight.

A reason to start TRT?

Our governor has dictated that gyms shall remain closed until at least July. I could sense the frustration and anger through my local gym owner’s social media post. I’m absolutely certain she’s ready to do whatever can be done to open in a reasonable manner that’s as safe as possible.

I’d cry if they closed. The whole family runs that place and the owner was the first person to even show me around a gym. I still remember the first routine she put me on, months before I decided to see what those barbells over there can do for me. It was a full-body machine circuit. Zero percent free weights! It worked great for me at the time, coming off a solid decade of unrepentant sloth.

Jiu jitsu people are NOT happy right now. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I don’t think Janet Mills has a good appreciation for how badly these people could mangle her if they got their hands on her. I don’t think she’d stand much chance at her age.

I’m fairly certain that, with shutdowns being extended, mom and pop stores, along with brick and mortar businesses such as small shop gyms, will open up despite governor’s orders. It’s also the right thing to do. Adults can make educated decisions on how much or how little they want to interact with other gym members and the public as a whole. If they are uncomfortable, they can stay inside. Gyms can sanitize and mitigate virus risk just as much as big box stores. Fuck 'em. Businesses, especially small ones, desperately need to reopen.
