It’s not for everyone, lot’s more upkeep than most non homeowners expect. From watching some of those home buying shows it seems there are a lot of great deals in Texas, I was surprised at how much you could get for your money.
I was surprised as well. You can probably find a brand new house right now in this city with 4-5 bedrooms for under $150,000. Foreclosures seem to be all over as well even though people seem to try to destroy the house before they leave it.
Wow. $150,000 in NY? Where abouts? And what size/kind of house?

I’m from CT, you literally couldn’t find a 1BR 1Bath condo for that little here. One of those will run close to 250-300k. (Considered the ‘poor’ part of town… sigh)

Even a studio-esque apt runs you 1k+ a month here.

God damn this economy.

Anyway, good call on modeling it yourself. Hope it turns out nice, and you avoid the rhinestones.
I’m not in New York. I was speaking of Houston.

The house prices here dropped like a rock this past year since so many people had lost jobs. The lower interest rates an the 8,000 dollar return would seem to make now the time to buy in cities like that.

We all know New York is expensive as hell. I doubt you could get much bigger than a two room studio apartment for 150k there.
No kidding, thought in my years of lurking I saw you say you work in NY. Now I feel like I don’t even stalk you anymore, sheesh.

That makes much more sense, however. A house up here that costs 2 million probably costs 150k down south. The difference is crazy.

Well, congrats man. Planning on getting some gym equipment in your basement? haha

Houses here, to my knowledge to not have basements because of how close we are to sea level. I am sure you hit water if you dig too deep around a port city.

X 2. maybe he was to distracted by Prof X’s new picture.

^ I don’t know why, I think PX looks tiny in that picture!! Either he’s really tiny or thats a HYUGE window he’s standing next to. I would argue that the window is average sized and PX is really tiny

You won’t see much of that $8000 if you make over $75,000 and none at all over $95,000.
Wow. That’s gay. I wasn’t aware.
Well, it is also wrong.
Didn’t read the whole thread. So that is false?

^ it was true, til the government modified and extended the program.
