I’ve met George Sr. more than a few times, including recently now that he is in a wheelchair.

Regarding being a “geek,” he became a naval aviator right out of high school, with something like 60 combat flights in the Pacific, many kills, and was even nailed by flak over target, finished the job, then ended up crashing and getting rescued by a sub out in the middle fo the ocean.
