Hillary: Let's Talk!

After reading an Op-Ed piece on Hillary this weekend, I finished it by saying to myself “…blah, blah, blah…”

Yea…Hillary is vulnerable to some of her stands and Politics…but her and Bill have been some of the most publicly scrutinized Politicians EVER…the Op Ed sounded like someone with a grudge bringing up old, boring arguments that we’ve heard a 1000 times before.

I just don’t think that she will be tripped up by a “smoking gun” and/or by debate on the issues.

Like someone said, Hillary herself is going to be her worst “opponent”. In other words, the Election is hers to lose.

I don’t completely agree with that, but what do you guys think?

Mufasa

I think she may be dangerous. I mean women are impulsive. Guys have that testosterone and all but remember ancient imperial times of China? Who were the baddest asses out there? Castrates.

Devoted to the end, not sensitive to booty issues and 100% focused on waking up tomorrow morning and kicking some ass. Let’s say she’s one. Imagine someone would disagree with her on something.

Good Chapelle style: “I’m Hilary Clinton, bitch!”

Today (1/27/07) Hillary is officially on the Road…

First Salvos:

 1. She supported the War.

 2. How involved will be Husband be in the campaign (Involved, but it will be clear that SHE is running for President).

She stood her own.

As a liberal leaning voter, Hillary scares me–but I can’t put my finger on why. Probably because I viewed her, in light, as First Lady in Chief back in the 90s.

Does anyone remember all the jokes made as Pres. Clinton’s expense that Hillary–often referred to as Billary–was the one with all the power in the White House? If this was true does it help or hurt her current campaign? All in all, I can’t see that 8 years of Clinton can hurt the US more than Bush’s 8 years. Actually, I think 8 years with a Clinton should get us back ot the porsperous 90s. Just a thought.
As a well intentioned chap voting a certain way because you believe it will better the country: I believe Hillary scares you because she is in it for herself and only herself. She wants to be the most powerful woman in the world. Despite what ever side of the political spectrum she is on, she is shrill, arrogant and transparently self serving. She is just a nasty person and it is obvious. One thing about the president is that he/she has to be somewhat likable and she is not.

The domocrats will have a much better chance with somebody else as a candidate. I will vote against her no matter what.

I don’t think it is an issue of a ‘smoking gun’ - I think it is an issue of one big audit of everything she has said and done publicly put in one big stew. It doesn’t have to be “new” so much as revived.

As for debate on the issues - she will have a very diffcult time. She has been nothing short of a political changeling. She has been both a radical feminist who chastised women who stay home to raise children to now a moderate who wants to respect family values and traditionalists, especially is it relates to the religious folk. She has played up her Jewish heritage for shameless political advantage in New York - this after casting her lot as an ally to the Palestinian cause. And her impossible-to-pin-down position on war in the Middle East has no one, right or left, in suspense about her true motives - she knows she has to sound pretty tough to be the first female Commander-in-Chief, even if she can’t do it honestly.

She is a political chameleon - and the problem is, most everyone knows it, so the constant changing of colors won’t fool many.

Anyone know if Carl Rove is going to be involved in any way on the Republican side of the Campaign?

He certainly would be one that Hillary could not “run” from.

Mufasa

pat:

Yes…she does come off “harsh” and often defensive. Her people will most likely try to “soften” up that image…they HAVE to.

thunder:

Your points is where Carl Rove is the Master. That “stew” will become a clear sting of manipulations and flip-flops on Hillary’s part that even a 2 year old will be able to understand.

Again…will Rove be “in the background” in the GOP side?

Mufasa

Wasn’t there an attempt to “soften” Hillary either during one of Bill’s campaigns or one of his Presidencies?

(I recall the people of Arkansas HATING her as a “First Lady” when Bill was Governor the first time. She was very harsh and “granola” then, when she would breast feed Chelsea in public!)

Mufasa

Whatever happens, please vote. It would be an embarrassment to see American Idol get more votes again.

Actually the economy is doing much better now than it ever did under Clinton.

However I would agree with others that Presidents do not deserve credit for good or bad economies as they play very little into the aspect of controlling the economy.

Well, my view is Rove is very overrated. He made his name on getting grassroots contributions into the party - when the Democrats were dependent on soft money from big donors, Rove engineered mailer campaigns from the regular folk. That was great for the GOP, and Rove is a very smart political tactician, but I don’t think he wins elections at the presidential level.

That said, doesn’t matter who is in charge, Hillary will have to face her past - so much of it is already so public. And a big disadvantage is that her personality is likely not going to help mitigate the problems with substance.

Remember, when Bush first ran in 2000, everyone agreed he was ‘likeable’. Hillary is starting behind the curve on even that basic fundament.

Hey, I just wanted to say great thread. I enjoy reading threads that involve intelligent debate and not just random shit talking. Keep it up.

Ladies and Gentleman, the President of the United States!
Headhunter wrote:
Then there were her wacky comments about school vouchers back in February …
Do you feel that her position was wacky, or just the way she presented it?

Because I agree 100% with her position. If you allow school vouchers for any religious-based private schools, you pretty much have to allow vouchers for all of them. I don’t think this is a good thing, as it would lead to the balkanization of the American education system.

Something I don’t understand about the Evangelicals/Christian Right…

Weren’t they supposed to be “easily galvanized” to come out in large numbers to defeat Bill Clinton in his second Term?

What happened?

Mufasa
They secretly wanted Bill in on the chance that they could hear more about his blowjob at work. I guess that is the American dream; getting blown at work! Must be why Bill is held up as an icon?

Maybe Hillary will keep the tradition and if she wins get blown by some young girl at work as well. But no doubt about it, Hillary has much bigger balls than Bill!

Hillary breast feed in public! I just lost my lunch! Thanks for that imagery!

Think of Hillary in a G-string and pasties shaking her ass seductively…

Enter Dennis Hastert in oversized assless chaps, a collar, and nothing else.

You know, if Hillary had blown Bill properly on a regular basis, I bet he wouldn’t have needed extracarricular blow-jobs. She should suck it purple on a daily basis.

Hillary simply doesn’t have the temperment to be president.

I suspect someone will piss her off, she’ll fly into one of her famous rages (making Howard Dean look like a choir boy) and it’ll be lights out.

John Edwards vs Rudy Guliani — odds on.

I don’t know, HH:

Many (myself included) see Edwards getting knocked off early in the Primaries.

What are your thoughts on him?
