High Reps Using the Moves of 5/3/1

I was wondering if I could get permission from Jim Wendler to do high rep exercises for 3 weeks following a cycle of 531.

In easy strength dan john recommends doing high reps squats for hypertrophy( sets of 20) after doing 531. I’m not sure that John intended that mesocycles of 531 and high rep squats be alternated though.

I was hoping I could get permission to do high reps in the following exercises:

deadlift from floor 3x20

bench press 3x20

back squat 3x20

standing military press 3x20

loading is the next issue. I did exactly this with around 30-35% 1rm, but did good mornings instead to mix it up. I was wondering if I could get permission to load the previously mentioned exercises with anywhere from 30-50% 1rm for 3 sets of 20 reps.

Permission.

Good god.

Permission granted!

yeah man, permission. you mean you didn’t know that you have to have permission to train the way you want to train if you’re a user on T Nation or you get hurt and can’t achieve your goals.

Fuck, I needed permission to train all along? I’m fucked.

that’s not how Dan uses 5/3/1. Reread easy strength, starting on page 152.

If you have to ask permission, you probably shouldn’t be modifying or changing your training. At your experience level, which is beginner, I advise you to do the basic 5’s progression with the 5’s Jokers. Do chins, dips, pushups, back raises, curls and sit-ups.

You will thank me!

I got a my easy strength copy from an illegitimate source. It must be corrupted and say something different from the printed book.
