Hello T-Nation!

Wooooooo a big “sup dude(ette)s” to everyone already on the forum, I finally decided to take the next step in getting serious about lifting and find a good meal and workout plan, and the first link I clicked was T-Nation! bang on and Im completely satisfied, just soaked in as much as I could from the T-dawg Diet, Ive decided Im going to do it!

When it comes to lifting Ive basically been doing light weights with a 4X20 setup, primarily working on my upper body. Now, stepping into some of the recommended training plans theres a lot of technobable I just dont get, I barely understand the timing idea (X3X1X stuff). and another thing is the primary machine I will use to work out is my new bowflex.

I plan to go to a local gym with a few of my buddies once in a while but right now I just have the money for a full time membership, not to mention not wanting to let the bowflex rot…

My main question is, all of the excersizes in these recomended workouts are for free weights or similar machines, that being said since Im so new I also dont recognize most of the excersizes as they are named, is there a good list somewhere on the site? Im thinking my best bet is to find what muscle groups each one isolates, and pick a coresponding excersize for the bowflex…

Thanks for any input!

Well, here’s a link with videos of alot of lifts:

Here’s two threads you should definitely read by a cat called vroom that should be incredibly helpful:

Beginner 2

I’m not gonna lay into you about the bowflex…just glad you found your way here and hope you join the community.

Well I suppose I will be the first to welcome you. WELCOME gald to have you and great choice on a site to visit for your goal.

I wont even flame you for the Bowflex, I am betting you will get enough from others. LOL Yopu gotta use what you got. Better than nothing I suppose. I would suggest however selling it and iusing the cash to buy an olympic bar and weights and rack. You could probably get into all that for the same you shelled out for the bowflex.

Anyhow Great choice on T-Dawg it is a solid proven plan. as for the w/o’s my god yes If you have been doing 4x20 crap or waht ever you stated you are in for some fun and growth from some solid w/o’s. I suggest maybe Big Boy Basics. also reading all the Dog School articles. Most have the pics you are looking for. Youi should also be able to adapt them to similar movements for your machine.

I would also add a link here to a beginners thread but as of yesterday our good buddy vroom started a new one and I havnt saved the link yet.It is right by this post " Are you a beginner 2 " or something like that. READ it and all the links.

Anyway welconme again and come on back once you pick a program and I as well as other will be glad to help you adapt the program to fit your limited use of the BIOW FLEX (AAAHHHH, I am feelin extra nice today but it still pains me to say that last line)

Hope that helps,
Phill
