That’s usually estrogen and the HCG chemical itself. At least what my doc told me. I dropped HCG and many of my symptoms vanished.
Thanks for the insight. I let my endocrine doc know and they are considering adding clomid to the hcg. Could that help counteract some of the anxiety/hbp related to hcg? Or would hcg need to be eliminated altogether?
No. It’s never recommended to add a serm like Clomid or nolva to hcg.
Did you read what I posted? I’m not sure why you thought they would counter the sides of hcg and would more than likely make them worse. Get off the hcg.
It usually has nothing to do with estrogen. The hcg T increase to E aromatization/conversion takes time to be accomplished. Most are experiencing these symptoms in less than 4 hours ruling out E.
So if I understand, it’s the raised aldosterone that causes the anxiety/depression?
I’m assuming clomid doesn’t raise aldosterone and therefore less side effects?
The articles I’m reading about clomid seem to indicate anxiety/depression as a side effect.
Both nolvadex and Clomid can have the same effects on men. You’ll never know though unless you try.
One thing I’ve learned after being on TRT for so long is everything that has an effect typically has a corresponding cost as well.
Hcg was the worst for me however.
Well I am switching to clomid as of today.
Took my last dose of hcg on Saturday and have felt up and down since.
My insurance will not cover any more hcg so I am hoping clomid will be good.
I just got my lab results back:
Testosterone (Total,LC/MS/MS): 441
FSH: 0.3
Estradiol: 37.0
Doc said the labs look great but was hoping you guys could share your thoughts.
Do these numbers look indicative of causing anxiety/depression?
Total T is low and estrogen high, you are estrogen dominant. Men are supposed to have high testosterone and estrogen lower, women have lower testosterone and higher estrogen.
Clomid known to possess dual actions as an estrogen agonist and an estrogen antagonist, increasing estrogen and stimulating the estrogen receptors. This is why men feel unwell on clomid, it’s a fertility drug designed for women.
I agree. Do you have high body fat op? It can feel like an uphill battle with low t and high e, but losing fat and improving gut & liver function/health can pay dividends with not only your systemic health, but in reducing your e.
I’ve been reading allot about anxiety and depression on trt. I found a many articles and comments of men who started pregnalone and dhea. You were on HCG, and did you check to see what your body produced in Preg to dhea s?
If they were not optimal I might try some lower dose Preg and dhea to see what it does for the mood. It helped me and dhea helped me sleep. Well I tried it one night and fell asleep in like 30 mins. Usually it takes me 1-2 or more hours .
Can I ask why HCG and chlomid ads you very young and that’s why not cypionate or cream?
Chlomid works for men but I don’t ever see optimal high range results or maybe I haven’t seen enough. You might feel much better if young and having free t in the high 20s.
I am at low T i did test e and caued lots of prob like high bp insomnia praipism panic attacks so i dropped it after few weeks started hcg tried diff doses worked fine for me started 500iu thrice gave me sides like water and gyno took aromasin quater but it crashed my estro gave me joint pain etc nothing else than i lowered to 500 twice did t worked then i started 250 eod was going fine along with HMG bcoz i need fertility ai very small dose when felt needed but after 6 months i had episode of anxiety and panic attack first time it was full blown then after few days it was small then again after few days again small episode i dont get it why hcg is causing this after 6 months i thought low estro was the cause now i m nt using ai my estro is normal its 28 no retention no libido prob but why hcg giving anxiety and i cant stop it if i want fertility
Yes. Happened to me. 12 days on HCG 250 iu every other day. Thought I was going nuts…Hellish. Thought it might bring my T levels up. Don’t know…don’t care…I’m stopping. Sending bloods this wknd to get checked. Good luck.
Hostile: I am very impressed with your good judgment and with the time and help you are providing the OP.
Hi everyone,
I know this is an older post but wanted to see if you all could still help me out. I’m 44 and had low T 225, and really low sensitive estradiol 9 and first started with the Clomid route (25 mg) took 3 does over 1.5 weeks and felt like absolute shit.
From there went to HCG 500 IU M,W,F for last 2 weeks and still feel like hell. Constant stomach ache, anxiety, cannot sleep. The kicker in all of this is that I went back in for panels and my Test was now at 605 and E2 at 33 but still feel like shit!
What would you all recommnd at this point? I kind of want to just stop HCG, or lower to 250 IU and see what happens but I’m concerned my levels would plummet again. Also worth noting I was Finasteride for one month in January and this is what I believed casued the crash. The last 3 months for me have been absolute hell.
Stop using HCG, and get on a proper TRT protocol that actually replaces your feeble T production. HCG tends to give an illusion of better numbers but where is your free T at? HCG alone wont help overcome this if free T is low, and SHBG is high.
Free T was also low 42.3 (not sure what it is now tough after and SHGB was 27
The problem is most likely because of HCG, not E2 levels. Guys who feel like shit on HCG moving over to TRT typically report feeling much better.
HCG only stimulates half of the testis and therefore doesn’t activates all hormonal pathways.
Young males have optimal levels of progesterone and it’s metabolites which are shut off with TRT. Their levels also fluctuate tremendously while on T we are 24/7 on high free testosterone.
