Speak English or Die, so so good
Wasn’t a fan of MPB latest album, I think they’re breaking up? Or at least not releasing anything for a long long time

Track list for the H2O cover album. Wish they hadn’t of chosen one of the more personal Rancid songs and had covered “Bikeage”, “Hope”, or “Suburban Home” by The Descendents, but everything else looks good
I cant find anything new on MPB, I hope they didnt break up.
I have to go see H2O in september in NYC, gotta get my old ass out for once. I would of liked to see H2O do “salvation” or “white knuckle drive”
The newest MPB album is “Do Not Resuscitate” and I believe I read in an interview that the title holds some weight to what they want to do with the band. The last I heard, they’re going on the dreaded hiatus.
Salvation would have been a great choice!

thank you, sir. fyi, i play drums in the band, and getting through that set is more physically demanding than anything i’ve done in the gym (with the exception of certain insane things like 20 rep clean and jerks, back to back sprints, etc.)
Converge is the only band within the genre that I’ve ever really liked. I love Jane Doe, and No Heroes and Axe to Fall are both great, too. Can anyone recommend anything remotely similar?

Is it Jacob’s vocals that you prefer, the instrumentation, or just the whole package? In my opinion, there isn’t really any other band like Converge in terms of their entire presentation which makes them one of my all time favorites. Check out Botch and United Nations, off the top of my head they’re two bands that remind me of the great ones.

It’s hard to say because, as you noted, they have such a unique sound. I love how they can have such a dirty production quality (Jane Doe in particular, which I believe was produced by the guitarist?), while still being heavy as hell. A lot of hardcore bands end up sounding a little too wispy for my taste, in an attempt to get that raw quality. The song structures are always interesting, also. I could do without the clean emo vocals, though.
Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll definitely check them out.
Bumping this since I’m active on the boards again. Bands/Albums I’ve been listening to lately:
