I have a question about stiff leg deadlifts. I think I am fairly strong at this lift (over 400lbs for reps), yet when I do “natural” GHR’s I still have problems getting more than 5 or 6 good reps. Is there any correlation between the SLDL and being able to perform strict GHR’s?
Thanks

I know that SLDL is Straight Leg Deadlift, but I’m not sure what you mean by GHR.

Glute Ham Raise…
if im thinking correctly, a GHR will utilize the glutes more then a SLDL, also, I’d have to see your form, but im willing to bet you use more of your lower back when using sldl’s. The best way to increase your GHR strength, is to just do them. Kinda like pullups, just keep doin em and doin em.
You wouldnt necessarily have a linear relationship between ghr and sldl strength. GHR utilizes the knee flexion rom of the hamstring while the sldl utilizes the leg extension rom(moving the entire leg towards behind you). The leg extension is a much stronger rom and I would think definitely utilizes your glutes with the utmost use. If you have a pretty good training program and especially if you are pretty advanced you will find that the “big exercises” use the leg extension much more than the flexion… i.e snatch, squat, etc. But to kind of answer your question I would say your strength sounds ok for the ghr I am about where you are with sldl and can only do about 8 reps per set.
Just to clarify the last post so there is no confusion, by leg extension he meant hip extension.
I’m being and anal dick (no weird puns or anything like that intended) but I just want to make sure the originator of the thread knows what you mean.
Cheers,
