Gym Work vs. Practice

Hey guys I have been training hard and consistently for the past 3 weeks and I have nothing but good things to say! I mean gains have been great, my speed is getting better, my conditioning is atleast 2x what I was before I have been doing tons of rope work, and my footwork has been better, I’m quicker, and my hops are alot better, to the point were im sore and my toe is killing me and im still jumping higher than i was before. But man do i have a problem; The season is 10 weeks from now and we’re going to start having team practices tommorow 2-3 times a week, BUT they’re optional. Should I make up a lame excuse or something, becuase I don’t want the additional practices to get in the way of my gains, becuase man these gains are really great, or do you guys think I can do 2 practices a week I mean there only 50-60 minutes but there really intense. The practices are monday and friday, and i train the legs every other 4 days. What i do is i test my vertical leap to see how my legs have recovered and i hit the legs when my vertical leap is greater than it was before and man that shyt is working amazing. Do you think that the playing 2x a week will be just fine or should i make a lame excuse and just keep doing my own thing till the season comes?

Hey Future,

If you are still doing Renegade Training get a hold of Coach Davies…He knows his stuff , and how to modify your training to fit in the practices. Personally I’ll say, if you are in better shape the practices will be less intense, so not much of an issue. You might cut out running volume but keep the rest the same, and if it occurs on recovery days count that as recovery.

Peace,
T-Ren

What im doing is a bit diffrent, im doing something like this

Weight Training I cycle in about 8 day cycles and i have 2 upperbody sessions and 2 lower body session, i just test my vertical leap and i train when my jump is at its peak, so that means my legs are fully recovered, i do rope work 3 times a week along with agility ladder 3x a week, and cone drills 2x a week.
