ITT Chuck Pahlaniuk tries to write the grossest story for shock value, just like all his other stories. For extra points he tries to rope god into it (see choke). Fight club was a one off stroke of brilliance, the other stuff of his is garbage.

All of his books are the same. Edward Norton versus Tyler Durden, Choke guy versus his mom, Saint Gut-free and all the other writers versus Mr Whittier. Same in invisible monsters etc They all talk the same and have the same ideas. He just changes names.
That being said, for the first two books or so the idea is still sick. Haunted was his best book I think. Then Fight Club. Then it just gets repetitive.
Blunt! Next time cite you thief!
So you want Palahniuk to write a story without a protagonist or antagonist? Interesting idea. I’m sure that will be a real page turner.
By the way, Survivor is his best work IMO.
edit: To be fair, though. When he misses his mark, his work can become little more than shock for shocks sake. I recently read Snuff and did not find much worth considering in that one. I suppose perhaps my reply was a bit harsh. Sorry 'bout that.
Given the edit I won’t answer as harshly as I may have, but I think you misunderstood my point. Every main protagonist and antagonist is the SAME person. They use the same turns of phrase and idiosyncracies. Each protagonist is a jaded, cowed and unmotivated introvert who is explicitly manipulated by a anarchist orator. He just changes names, not characters.
All that being said I own 4 Palanuik books and loved them for the most part. I just won’t buy the other 4 or 5 because they are now all the same.

Palaniuk got old very very fast. the first few you read are great though.
