It’s wasn’t that long ago that there was weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth…and calls for Congressional action; when the music (among other industries, like TV, Entertainment and publishing) were suddenly Gobsmacked by the new realities caused by the digitization of their selective media.
And they still have not fully recovered.
Adjustments have certainly been made; but the reality is that once digitized; a medium not only can be shared…it will be shared…and very little (if anything) can be done to stop it…
I’m with you Pat…these AGs are peeing against a Wildfire…
I’m crossing my fingers that eventually technological advances make our lives so easy that people either chill out a little or strive for personal achievements.
Yeah, the music industry paid in blood…
It definitely changed the industry for the worse. Instead of art based it became just another commodity. It doesn’t have to be good so long as it moves and generates revenue. And making a lot of crap, cheap and fast is the name of the game. It went to being just a business only.
I miss record stores…
A band like Led Zeppelin could never exist in this market place. You can’t just disappear for 8 months to make an album anymore.
That happened before digital media. The industry got what it deserved. You have “artists” referring to themselves as brands and their music as product.
Yup. I won’t even deny I it. I have all kinds of nefarious ideas and thoughts. The main reason I am not a maniacal killer is that I am a pussy… and I don’t want to hurt other people.
I have all kinds of ideas on how to hurt people. I thought I was creative… Then I went to a torture museum in Spain.
We were in this little bitty town walking around and soaking in the place and we saw the sign. Like at 3 PM they are walking an entire heard of cattle through the town from one pasture to another. You’re ‘walking with the cows’ instead of ‘Running with the Bulls’ kind of little town.
We saw the sign for the museum, there was no question we were going in. I came out with a way different look on my face then when I went in, I can tell you that.
Cruelty is something humans have been excellent at for a very long time.
The us army has at least 3 improvised munitions handbooks you can buy on Amazon right now. Avoid the Patriots cookbook. They changed those recipes in the 70’s after some kids got hurt. Most of the stuff in there now is inert or less than effective.
OK then. The danger, as I see it is that fragmentation and direction could be optimized using a basic cad program, and the device could be made precisely enough to look like virtually any mundane object.
So while people are looking for black backpacks and crock pots they’re not looking for something like an overhead mounted fragmenting shape charge that looks like a Christmas wreath hanging from the typical places that something like that would be.
