Checking to make sure that somebody who’s trying to buy a gun has never been involuntarily committed to a mental institution, and isn’t an illegal alien, and hasn’t been making threats against an ex-wife’s life: good idea.

Anybody who advocates for not at least trying to make it difficult for the mentally insane to buy arms is a fool and a fanatic.
Well, all of those rule are already in place.

Not at gun shows. That’s my problem.

Storage of the records has the potential to. But only if it’s allowed to, and I don’t think potentialities are as forceful as some people believe.
Fair enough, but this is the US government we are talking baout. We are all lying to ourselves if we honestly believe they don’t already have a “big list” with every legal gun purchase on it somewhere.

Background checks are already required at gun shows for handgun purchases.

Edit:

In MD anyway.

I believe that this is MD legislation and not federal legislation.

I think it should be federal legislation.

I think we should be able to see smh’s background check.

(With a ghoulish tone) Maybe something good would be in there. Hahahaha

I will say this: ever since I started making money, I have chosen one thing that I want and saved up for it. I’m getting a bike this summer, and then after that I’m buying a pistol. And when I buy it, I want whoever’s selling it to me to have to make sure I didn’t spend that last few years in a mental facility.

I was just teasing.

What type of bike are you getting, and I hope it does not have training wheels?

Seriously what type of Motorcycle are you getting? I love my Yamaha 1989 FJ1200. Thinking of selling that one and getting a new Vmax or an FJ1300.

My neighbor has a VMAX, it is beautiful.

I have a connection for sick deals on BMW bikes, so I’m looking at the G series. Any familiarity with them?

Someone who spent a few years in a mental facility is not going to bother pursuing legal methods of getting a gun. They will either steal one, buy one on the street, or acquire one through some other unscrupulous method.

This will eventually reduce itself into all guns being labeled “the devil’s weapon”, because you cannot prevent the acts of the mentally unstable.

The guy in Texas used a knife to try to harm people, a terrorist hid a bomb in his underwear, another hid his bomb in his shoes.

Living in fear means you hand someone else power of you, and that choice is ultimately up to you.

Sick deals on BMW’s (unless stolen) still are grossly over priced. I am a really big fan of buying used bikes. My step brother had a K 1300 S, and loved it till he laid it down and totaled it. Not familiar with the G series. Is that the Endo type bikes?

A local TV station reported it was an Exacto Knife. If someone came at me with one of those he would not wake up for a couple of days after I pounded his face into the concrete.

They are dual sports, which is what I really want because I want to take it down South of the border where some roads are really shitty. And I don’t think they are stolen lol, at least I hope not.

Everything is stolen south of the border. That would be a fun trip though.

My wife and I really want to get a Honda Goldwing, and travel the US on it. She likes Hotels, and I wanted an RV to go camping like, but we compromised. The Goldwing is much cheaper than the RV, the gas is also much cheaper, and the Hotels might be a little more than a campsite, but over the long term the Goldwing is cheaper. I am so going to enjoy retirement. The children will be out of the house in 15 years, and me and my wife will be riding around the country.

I love motorcycles.

Sorry for the Hijack. Just started another thread about motorcycles in GAL.

Perhaps, I have never been to one, but I don’t see how they could get around the transfer of ownership form which requires it. But I guess it’s easy to be shady. I certainly agree there should be checks involved with procuring a firearm. I just want them to make sense an be useful.
Like what good does it do to limit the number of bullets in a clip? It’s just not that hard to reload and can be done in a couple of seconds. You just have to buy more clips which are not very expensive. All that does is hassle the poor sap a target practice. The criminal hell bent on the destruction will be well prepared.

This is the same thing they used to hijack the planes on 9/11. How much you wanna bet some asslick politician is going try an control the sale of exato knives. Then it will be anything sharp. Pretty soon we’ll have to register our kitchen utensils…

To write something, you are going to have to use a tiny needle to prick your finger and write it in blood.

I have already addressed this argument. It isn’t a good one, at all.
Living in fear means you hand someone else power of you, and that choice is ultimately up to you.
This has nothing to do with fear. Criminals don’t get guns. Crazy people don’t get guns. It’s the job of the law to try and make sure that those two sentences are true. That’s it.
