I broiled a steak for the first time on a skillet in the oven. I coated the pan with a little olive oil and sea salt, then put salt and pepper on each side and cooked it 5 min on each side then let some butter melt on it while it was still warm. It turned out pretty good. Its to bad you don’t have some time to mess around and practice but you cant really go wrong with steak as long as you don’t over cook it.
What ever you do dont marinate it. Let it sit at room temperature for an hour or 2, and then moments before cooking add a dash of olive oil and salt and pepper. Use a hot grill and like others have said don’t over cook. About 2 minutes a side is probably more than enough.

Depends how fast Mugsy’s lawyer gets there.
I see nothing wrong with adding a little more seasoning to a filet mignon. In my opinion there isn’t much flavor to them because they are so lean. Yeah they are really tender, but I’ll take a ribeye any day over a filet.

It’s a little late for that. He’s ah, I guess you could say, well done.

Something in this thread seems unconstitutional. Must be some of the things getting added to the filet mignon. If Mugsy’s lawyer objects to the bacon, I wonder if he will get overruled.

I’ll tell you whats unconstitutional! Jamie Oliver throwing a hand full of thyme into a pan of mushrooms like he did!
I kid you not, I did that once and it is the worst possible thing you can do to a beautiful batch of chanterelles.

Not into mushrooms. I will defer to your expertise. But how will the cigar the police detective was just recently smoking affect the flavor?
Too late for this year, but next year don’t grill the filets. Buy the tenderloin and grill it, then slice it and bring it to the table. Season it however your old man likes. And for gods sake, buy yourself a meat thermometer.
