Great Movies Nobody Saw?

In the last year:
“Lars and the real girl”
“The bell and the butterfly”
and, although it won an Oscar, most people haven’t seen it “there will be blood”, which is about 100x better than Juno, gag.

Someone mentioned Boondock Saints. I don’t know, I for one thought that was the worst movie I have ever seen (right up there with The Avengers, any Zach Braff movie, and Mission Impossible). It’s like a high budget movie made by middle schoolers, characters have no depth and the plot I can’t even remember after seeing it twice. Maybe it just had too much hype in my circle of friends before I saw it, I dunno.

Speaking of Vietnam any remember A Rumor of War starring Brad Davis the guy who was in Midnight Express? That was a pretty good Nam movie.

I have the book, fantastic. I didn’t know it was a movie.

I read the book as well and yes it was very good. The movie is very good worth finding if you can.

Sunshine

Pretty good movie. Indie/sci-fi.

Big trouble in little china - Kurt Russell

Omega Man - C. Heston

PCU - Jeremy Bivens

Spies Like Us - Dan Akroyd, Chevy Chase
All good movies (don’t know about “PCU”), but the thread is “Great Movies Nobody Saw”. While “PCU” might fit that, the rest of them have been seen by a lot of people.

DB

Brotherhood of the Wolf: Great mention by Prof X and the other guy that I forgot.

Equilibrium: Cheesy and Gay to me.

The Thing: Fucking great. Not only is that movie underated, so is Kurt Russell.

Movies people should see:

Fire and Ice: An ex-Ranger told me about this movie. Great movie. Art by Frank Frazetta with good voice acting and good fighting considering it came out in the early 80’s. Kind of like Heavy Metal.

Escape from New York: Snake Plissken. The Fuckin Man.

Soldier: Kurt Russell again. “Fear and Discipline. Always.”

That was Ralph Bashkie’s studio that did that

Endless Summer… wasn’t that Jan Vincent? These guys are surfers and worried about getting shipped off to Vietnam right? If so, I remember that flick.
No. It was more of a documentary of surfers following the summer season around the globe, just to be able to surf year round. Great flick!

Possibly - We have some young guys here though.

Rats of Nimh?

Corvette Summer

Creepazoids

When We Were Kings.

“Frailty” Its a Bill Paxton flick, I don’t know if it was in theaters, but a coworker of suggested it and all I can say is wow. Its kinda dark, but a great movie overall. If someone watches it let me know what you thought during the movie.

Captain Ron is a great movie. Kurt russel is hilarious in this!

is the name of the guy in The Brotherhood Of The Wolf who plays Mani (great martial arts scenes)

I didn’t know he was in that much shit. That movie is now one of my all time favorites now that I know he actually did most of that himself.

Short of Undisputed 2 (with Micheal Jai White), there are few movies that actually showcase what looks like “damn close to real” fighting like that.

He should have actually had a larger role in the movie…but I can’t complain too much.

You should also check out Crying Freeman starring Dacascos.
Fight scenes?

I’m not much of a comedy guy, but the original Out of Towners with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis.

I have this movie. It’s pretty good, but it did come out in the theater.

Henry & June and Il Pocino were great movies that almost everyone I run into looks at me strangely when I suggest these two movies to them.

Il Pocino is in Italian and subtitled in English.

Anybody else see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? The dialogue between Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer (who needs more work!) is hysterical.

It’s my favorite comedy of all time. The first time through I completely lost the story because I was laughing so hard the entire time. I’m am now a diehard fan of both actors.

Thank you, kind sir, for posting that.

I had no idea what to expect when I fetched it yesterday, but having finished viewing it, I can safely say that it’s one of the most inspirational piece ever made. Plus, the fact that I didn’t know the outcome kept me on the edge of my seat till the last minute.

Anyone seen “Dog Day Afternoon” and “Cool Hand Luke” ?

I love movies by Abbas Kiarostami, especially “Khane-ye doust kodjast?” (Where is the Friend’s Home?) and “Bad ma ra khahad bord” (The Wind Will Carry Us). Another favourite filmmaker is Ingmar Bergman; I love his “Persona” (the 1966 film), and “Det Sjunde inseglet” (The Seventh Seal).
