I’m thinking of perhaps substituting my oats for some quinoa and 3-4 eggs. I need carbs in the morning. I’m incredibly carb sensitive. It affects my energy a lot when I cut too many carbs. Unless there is something else out there I can eat in the morning with 30-50 grams of carbs and only around 200 calories.
They’re not ‘perfect’ clean foods, but I love potato waffles and scrambled eggs for a quick, tasty, non-irritant C+P meal.

I’ll definitely check them out.

Man, potato waffles sound good right now…thx BBB. When I get back on a bulking pase, I’m definitely gonna try em out. I have a waffle iron that never gets used since I don’t eat grains.

I may have a treat for you…

If you look at these two posts, you should find two grain free substitutes for pancakes. Not sure how it would go in a waffle maker, but you can give it a try at least.

These are the ones I make. There are about 9 to 12 net carbs in these (from pumpkin and unsweetened coco powder) and high in protein ( 32 grams depending on your protein powder and how many eggs whites you use [I use two]).

They are super delicious and grain freeeeee

I want to add chia seeds to my list of acceptible non-irritant carb sources. Kind of like quinoa in their nutrient profile, but richer in omega3.

I add them to chicken stews etc and if I’ve been eating this way for a couple of days, all my poos are ‘one wipe wonders’ which suggests to me that they are ‘ultimate bowel friendly’.

Nothing like only wiping your ass once and seeing no residue. Lets you know that all is right with your world

Yea ive heard of them, I dont know if you have ever heard of Dr.Mercola or Ori hufmekler (Spelling), but they highly endorse them, I believe.

Ya, chia seeds have become a new super food. they have a lot of good stuff in them. I bought some to check em out, however they were kind of nasty. They got all slimey when I cooked em like oatmeal. So, my first experience was not good. If you have a better way of eating them, let me know, but I was told to put them in water.

From my personal experience with grains and going Paleo per say, cutting out gluten completely has enabled me to keep a low bodyfat percentage even while eating white rice and potatoes post workout. I feel fine on them, where gluten makes me feel bloaty. I would experiment but from an overall health standpoint eliminating all gluten seems to do wonders for it.

Do you guys know where chia seeds would be in the store? Like what section?

I’m thinking the ethnic food section, but im not certain.

Well when I bought em they were in like the bulk food section…like where u buy bulk granola and all that shit…

Chia sees can be had on Amazon for super cheap, local organic market is way expensive on them. Go great and unnoticeable in oatmeal.

BBB- I like your comment about the one wipe wonder. There are days where that happens and what a relief from the constant wiping, always wondered what I ate differently the day before.

The essence of Paleo is right - avoid foods that are a result of 20th and 21st c. ENGINEERING - but everything is a product of agriculture now. Grains, potatos, nuts, all ag. Even the fruits and veg of today are the result of ag; hunter-gatherers ate f&v, but they were not the same as now - ag changed those foods too.

It’s the modern mutant wheat you really have to stay away from. Dr. Davis in Wheat Belly says he tried bread made from einkorn - the original wheat, from 10 kya - and had no probs. Not recommending high volume, but if using ancient grains (einkorn, emmer, spelt) a little can be ok for most people. Davis never mentions quick-rise yeast; the yeast needs time to neutralize the phytic acid. At least overnight, 24 hrs is better.

Weston A. Price found many ag cultures that were super healthy, but they all did SPECIFIC things to make ag work for them, nutritionally. You can’t say “grains are healthy” OR “grains are bad”; the devil is in the details.

So, carb sources to fuel weight-lifting: ancient wheat (long fermented), rice, oats, potato, fruit, veggies. All properly prepared. (yes, organic IS better. fuck what’s best for the investors’ profits or the Medical Business.) Cycle them, if one is bad for you no one’s making you eat it.

I figured as much but didn’t want to make any assumptions. While you are giving out very valuable information, a great majority of this site consists of guys who are after a lean 200+ lbs. To get to that level, I have yet to see it accomplished by anyone who lays off of rice, oats, potatoes, etc. This is also consistent with my own experience after a year of eating paleo and finally “giving in” only to see my LBM and strength levels shoot up like crazy as I put on 50lbs in 2011. If you have any counterexamples, I’m all ears. I think you’d enjoy this article: Paleo Nutrition Improved
That is a good article, and I am actually almost the same as Nate when it comes to diet. Meaning, if someone were to watch me at certain meals they’d think I was paleo, but I do actually use things such as potatoes (which according to Robb Wolf is paleo so…idk), I also still eat ezekiel bread, but really not much else Wheat wise. I would also agree that in order to gain any true size you need some kind of complex carb to fuel muscles. Im not sure if you looked at the entire post, but I never told anyone not to use these food items, more I was saying grains are not for everyone and some should use them within limit.
